"Under that new law the basic fundamental rights are basically taken away from the people of Pakistan regarding freedom of expression. If a journalist asks any question and that question is not liked by the rulers or even by the head of a parliamentary party, you can be picked...

France's new anti-cult law and Germany's ongoing "sect filters" against religious minorities raise serious concerns about religious freedom. These actions echo historical fascist policies, leading to the dehumanization of certain groups and justifying future hate crimes.

After threatening to shut down NTV and the Daily Monitor, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba may have expected fear and silence. Instead, Uganda's most prominent media houses appear to have called his bluff. In what many viewed as a direct challenge to the country's Chief of Defence Forces, NTV's evening news bulletin revisited a series of controversial incidents in which Muhoozi has been accused of openly boasting about kidnappings, illegal detentions and other actions that critics say violate the law. The broadcaster posed a question that is increasingly being asked across the country: Is Muhoozi Kainerugaba above the law? The Daily Monitor has also continued reporting on the controversy despite the threats, setting up a confrontation that many Ugandans never expected to see. For years, critics have accused powerful figures in government of operating with impunity, but now major media institutions appear unwilling to simply look away. The bigger question is what happens next. Will Muhoozi back down from his threats, or will he attempt to act on them? Can a military officer, regardless of rank, decide which media houses are allowed to operate and which ones are not? And what does it say about the state of Uganda when journalists and media organizations find themselves in a public standoff with the country's top military commander? To many observers, this is no longer just a dispute between Muhoozi and the media. It is becoming a test of whether the rule of law still matters, whether freedom of the press can survive political intimidation, and whether powerful individuals can be held accountable for their actions. In this commentary, I examine the growing confrontation between Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Uganda's independent media and what it means for the future of the country. YouTube -

VIDEO | Delhi: Congress leader Manish Tewari on prominent citizens from India and Pakistan appealing PMs of both countries for 'restoring peace, normalcy, dialogue', says, "Well, that's not an appeal for a dialogue. It is an instrument of an unconditional surrender. We want peace with Pakistan, but it has to be peace without terror. It has to be peace with honour. Has Pakistan given any commitment that it will dismantle the entire military jihadi complex. That they have very assiduously nurtured since the late 1970s. Has Pakistan said that they would ensure that the soil of their country is not used for perpetrating terror against India. A commitment which was given by President Musharraf in 2002 in a televised address to the people of Pakistan, as well as reiterated when Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Islamabad in December 2004 for the SAARC Summit. And then repeated ad nauseam in the conversations that took place with between Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani interlocutors, or even Prime Minister Modi later with his Pakistani interlocutors. So, therefore, the question is not peace. The question is, peace at what cost? Peace cannot come with a gun to your head, you know, with somebody holding the gun of terror to your head. And all these people who've written this letter are very eminent people in their professional and private capacities. They have dealt with the Pakistanis over the entire span of their professional careers. They exactly know as to how perfidious these people are as to how they say one thing and mean the other thing altogether. And therefore, if there has to be peace, or if there has to be a dialogue, terror and talks cannot go hand in hand. You need to ensure that Pakistan dismantles the entire infrastructure of terror that Pakistan have created. Who does not want peace? Everybody wants peace, but it has to be peace without terror and peace with honor." (Full video available on PTI Videos -

#WATCH | Goa: Former MoS MEA, MJ Akbar says, "Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is worried about every single drop of water on the Indus, saying it is a red line. The message from India is different. Every single drop of Indian blood lost to terrorism sponsored by Pakistan needs accountability; Pakistan has to give an answer. Blood and water will not flow together. The full truth about Pakistan has been exposed by a very major Pakistani leader, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Jamait, who has told the Pakistani government, the prime minister, as well as the real chief of Pakistan, their field marshal, Asim Munir, who is the head of the armed forces, he has told them to first gargle before they say anything because he hints that the voices have become unclean with the untruth. The truth about Pakistan, which he has exposed himself, is that more than 80% of Balochistan today is out of control and governance of Islamabad. 80% of Balochistan is virtually independent. It is free. It is certainly outside the control of Pakistan. In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has bombed Pakistan in Balochistan. The fact of the matter is that Pakistan is crumbling on its Independence Day. It has become what I have described in my book as a jelly state, which will neither be stable nor will it disappear. The truth about Pakistan is known to those who have suffered the brutality of the Pakistan army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in Khyber and Pakhtunkhwa, and in Sindh. This truth is known to the Pakistani people. Pakistan is on the edge."

Dear Human Rights / Women Rights organizations of the World..! I want to draw your attention towards the extreme violence and fascism going on by the goverment of Pakistan on the women and workers of PTI which is the largest political party of Pakistan. 1000s of illegal abductions and 100s of killings of citizens including men, women and kids are being carried out. Women are being harassed, dragged on roads and beaten violently, whereas straight fires are shot on peaceful people, all being done by police and rangers of Pakistan. This is done only because these innocent people wanted to use their fundamental right of doing peaceful protests, because they want free and fair elections in Pakistan, which yet again is also a fundamental and constitutional right of every citizen. Its been more than a year people of Pakistan are facing this extreme cruelty from the state of Pakistan but during last fews weeks this has been multiplied 1000 times. Most of the electronic media has been forced not to report this fascism and the internet has been shut down throughout the country so that the world, through social media, should not know what is happening in Pakistan. Even journalists who wanted to speak up agaist this state cruelty are being harassed, illegaly arrested or abducted. I urge all the organizations, known world-wide for their services to protect human rights, especially the rights of women, to raise this issue in the world so that these activities in Pakistan must stop. Today it's Pakistan, the other day, these human right violations can occur in any other country, therefore this fascism and violence of human rights must be probed once and for all. Looking very much forward to your response in terms of raising your strong voices against this. #WATCH | Glasgow, Scotland | PoK activist from Scotland, Amjad Ayub Mirza says, "The situation in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting worse by the hour. After the arrest of the leader of Joint Awami Action Committee Shaukat Nawaz Mir, so far more than 600 workers and activists of the committee have been arrested... On 5th of July, that was usually celebrated or observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day, in the name of the people of Kashmir Valley, is now being observed against Pakistan. Not only in PoJK, but also there are thousands of people who are going to turn up in London and on the 5th of July and protest against brutalities committed by Pakistan in Pakistani-occupied J&K... The situation is very precarious because Pakistan has created an economic blockade and there is no food, they are not allowing any food in to PoJK... Also, they have created a massive blockade for travel. So people who have to go to the hospital or people who had been somewhere else and want to return home, they are stranded. And they are using drones for surveillance of the Rabla court sit-in, where thousands of people have gathered for the past more than three weeks now. And the gathering is increasing..." He also says, "I don't think that the elections called on the 27th of July are going to be held anymore because people are now saying that we are going to boycott it. They say we are not going to vote for another puppet assembly. So we'll have to see where this movement goes... They are doing straight firing on the peaceful protesters... We don't have the exact number but definitely more than 100 have so far been killed. In Rabla court, the hospital, they are not giving the dead bodies. When people went there to collect the dead bodies, they said you write down that your child or son or brother or whoever they have come to collect was a terrorist. If you don't write that we are not going to give it... And those who are injured, as soon as they go to the hospital or go to the first aid centers, they have been picked up and made to disappear..."
