Mass in Kaspa is a nuanced concept. It's about measuring true network cost, not just tx size. Great breakdown, Ashish. The three faces of mass really highlight the complexity and efficiency of the system. #Kaspa

1. Still awesome, I love these! 2. Minor error (AI interpretation of "transient mass") 3. Please continue making and publishing these!!!

Thank you for feedback.. transient mass is same highlighted on kaspacom.. same analogy is added.

The graphic is accurate, but the audio describes it (2:50) as space while transmitting, while it is "accurate" that it does reflect the bandwidth usage, it might be more accurately described as "similar to storage requirements, but this transient data later gets pruned"

I lean on AI to write the articles too (I am not a writer, at all), but even then it takes some time to refine and ensure accuracy (even when the AI has access to the codebase!) I've even had AI make blatantly false statements that took a bit of work to correct. Sometimes...

Ever hear Albert Einstein’s voice? He’s him explaining his formula, E=mc² It is probably the most famous formula in the world, but what exactly does it mean? Let's start by defining each letter in the formula: E = Energy M = Mass C = Speed of light (a very large number) If we were to read the formula, we would say, "Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared." The formula itself is rather simple in that it essentially says that energy and mass are different forms of the same thing; they are interchangeable. So are you saying a beam of light and a banana are different forms of the same thing? Yes, in our head, this may not make sense, but it does in nature. This discovery was groundbreaking at the time because people had previously believed that energy could only be created by kinetic or potential energy. You can increase kinetic energy by accelerating your car. You can increase potential energy by stretching a rubber band. Einstein demonstrated that there was a third form, which is that things have energy because they simply exist. Ok, so why is mass multiplied by the speed of light? Whenever you are converting mass to pure energy, it is by nature moving at the speed of light. Pure energy is an electromagnetic radiation, which travels at 186,000 miles/sec (300,000 km/sec). Ok, cool, but why is the speed of light squared? This again has to do with the nature of energy. If an object is moving twice as fast as another object, it does not have twice as much energy. Rather, it has four times as much energy. Hence, the speed of light is squared, which comes out to a very big number. C^2 is the conversion factor from mass to energy. The bottom line is that even small objects have an immense amount of energy. Through the process of nuclear fusion/fission via nuclear power plants, we can harness some of this energy. In the atomic bomb that destroyed the city of Hiroshima, there was about 700 milligrams (equivalent to the weight of 1/3 of a dime) of uranium which was converted to energy that destroyed everything within a 1-mile (1.6 km) blast radius.

I have a pi-day challenge for all the physics students among you (or anyone willing to set up an experiment). If you share your results with me by March 10th, I may feature them in a video, depending on how good the results are and how many I get. Many years ago I made this video about how two colliding blocks on a frictionless plane can compute pi. My challenge to you is simple: Implement this in practice. The original puzzle assumes zero friction and zero energy loss in collisions, so obviously there are limits to how far you can get. I can tell you the real limiting factor is energy lost in collisions, more so than friction. Also, it's a wildly inefficient way to compute pi, to even get "3.14" you'd need this to work with a 10,000-to-1 mass ratio and have a way to count all 314 collisions. Matt Parker and I actually gave this a go, and the results were...okay, but could definitely have been improved :) Note, there's no reason to restrict yourself to powers of 100. For example, you could use powers of 4 to compute pi in binary. A mass ratio of 64-to-1 should give 25 collisions, which is 11001 in binary, and pi looks like 11.001... More generally, with a mass ratio of N-to-1, the number of collisions is around π / arctan(1 / sqrt(N)). So any big mass ratio gives you an approximation of pi by multiplying the number of collisions by arctan(1/sqrt(N)) If you do this, you can reach out to the channel via this page: Be sure to have a link to footage of the experiment. If anyone can get it to work with 100-to-1, I'd be happy, and if anyone can do it for 10,000-to-1, I'd be both delighted and amazed.

What is Kaspa Silverscript? Kaspa recently announced that the Silverscript v1 release candidate is live ahead of the mainnet launch. But what is it? Simply put, Silverscript is Kaspa's first high-level smart contract language and compiler; With Silverscript, developers can write clear covenant contracts that compile straight to native Kaspa Script, without a virtual machine, a second execution context, or global account state. - Silverscript aims at making the covenant primitives introduced after Toccata in Kaspa usable and readable. - Developers can write their covenants using a CashScript-like language and compile their contracts to a locking script, ABI, and covenant plumbing code. Language features Kaspa Silverscript features the following lines of code; - Loops and arrays - Function calls and helper functions - explicit types, structs, and typed literals - transaction introspection - signature checks, hashtags, and verification built-ins - covenant declarations that generate transition wrappers What can developers create with Silverscript? 1.) Escrow and milestone payments 2.) Recurring or streaming payments 3.) Vesting and dead-man’s-switch custody 4.) Native fungible assets (KCC20-style conventions) 5.) Atomic swaps 6.) Simple stateful objects such as counters 7.) ZK-aware checks that call the on-chain Groth16 / RISC Zero precompil If v1 works, Kaspa will have an authorship pathway for L1 covenants that doesn't add a second runtime for audits. This is less than “Solidity on Kaspa,” but it is the point. Silverscript is a platform for vaults, assets, and local state contracts and the foundational layer for the future shared state.

Gang Starr - “Mass Appeal” “Mass Appeal” was a turning point for DJ Premier. I remember the first time I heard “Mass Appeal.” It was on Gang Starr’s 1994 album, ‘Hard to Earn.’ I played this song over and over. Serious repeat! What caught my attention the most was how Premier chopped the sample, and then arranged it in a way that the ends exploded every time the loop turned over. What’s more, at the point where the loop turns, there isn’t a dominate kick, which was typical of most hip hop/rap songs of that period. The absence of the kick on the loop turning point convinced me that Premier was in the midst of a sound change. Having heard his beatwork on ‘Illmatic’ just a couple of months before, I was wondering if his beats would be in the same vein or take a different direction. Two songs into ‘Hard to Earn,’ I knew Premier was going for a new sound. And what tipped me off was his experimentation with his drums. I was paying extra close attention to Premier’s use of the kick drum. Specifically, I was studying the ways in which he was starting to “relax” the punch of his kicks while still coming up with non-conventional drum frameworks. On “Mass Appeal,” it was if Premier had challenged himself to devise a moderately syncopated kick pattern underneath a deceptively simple sample arrangement. If you listen to “Mass Appeal,” pay careful attention to how the end of the sample seems to speed up. Truth is, it doesn’t. By chopping the end of the sample the way he did, and by easing up on the attack (the front-end) of the sample, an otherwise simple 1-bar measure is transformed into something akin to break in a record being “pushed” forward by the DJ. And what makes this all more complex than most people realize is the fact that the tempo — which stays the same throughout — is managed thoroughly by the kick pattern and shuffling hat pattern.

Police arrested 17-year-old Markel Lee on Friday for killing high school student Martha Odom at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday during the mass shooting. Lee, along with his lawyer, turned himself in to police on Friday. Odom reportedly died from a gunshot wound to the chest. She had been at the mall celebrating “Senior Skip Day.” Lee faces one count of first-degree murder and will be charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder for the other people shot. Baton Rouge Police are asking for help identifying another suspect who was caught on camera (00:08). If you recognize him, please contact the authorities. Police say nobody wants to talk about it but there is a gang problem in Baton Rouge. This mass shooting stemmed from a social media beef between two groups. After they found each other at the food court at the mall, shots rang out. Call them groups or call them gangs—it’s mass violence and it has no place in civil society. Lee deserves life in prison. Gov. Landry blamed his parents, saying, “The beginning of this failure was at home.” He also blamed the judicial system for being too soft on criminals. Lee had a long criminal history already at such a young age. He shouldn’t have been free to harm innocent people. Gov. Landry gave his solution for violent crimes like Thursday’s mass shooting: “People say we cannot arrest our way out of this problem, and they are right. We can sentence our way out of this problem.” Odom deserves to be alive. May she rest in peace and may stricter legal penalties for violent criminals be realized. Another victim from this mass shooting, 43-year-old Donnie Guillory, is in critical condition at a hospital. If he dies, another count of first-degree murder would be added to Lee’s charges.
