One of the most dangerous jobs, underwater welding…. Drowning, explosions, electric shock, decompression sickness/illness, ear/lung/nose damage, and they have to watch out for marine wildlife as well.

One of the toughest and most dangerous jobs out there but the pay reflects the risk. Respect to those who do it!

Underwater welding can pay a lot depending on your welding certifications and diving certifications. At the very top end with hazard pay and extreme condition. It is very dangerous with short career and life expectancy. The bends will really mess you up if it doesn't kill you.

The high wage is for habitat welding. They stay pressurised to depth for weeks at a time, ahead of the long decompression. I used to monitor these guys at work. With an ROV.
