Don't take it personal. Traverse City has grown so much and I think that some locals would prefer that it not be promoted more since the traffic is bad enough. It's hard for the locals to get around. If you'd like to make a side trip to Manistee, we'll welcome you with open arms!

I think it's because so many breathtaking, beautiful places like T.C. have been overrun by transplants & clueless tourists, and many of the locals are seriously sick of it and want it to return to how it was before the location became trendy. Places like T.C. are being ruined. They don't want more publicity.
