@GWRHelp People struggle to understand why a straightforward recovery cannot be completed by securing a rope to a tow vehicle and clearing the obstruction. The delay in resolving such a simple issue inevitably attracts criticism and prevents the site from being made safe in good time.

For the first time in 60 years, passenger services will now run along the Northumberland line. When the 18-mile line opens, services will call at stations in Ashington, Seaton Delaval, Manors and Newcastle. Northern will run two daytime services an hour from Monday to Saturday and one train per hour in the evenings and on Sundays. A journey along the entire route will take around 35 minutes and a single fare will cost no more than £3. Take a look! 🚆

🚆✅ We're delighted to announce that we're able to resume our normal timetable from Glasgow Central High Level on Wednesday (25 March), after work was completed to reinstate the remaining platforms at the station. ℹ️ Public safety is still the main priority so not all entrances and exits to the high level are open. An exclusion zone around the area worst affected by the fire is still in place so the entrances to the station on Gordon Street and Union Street will remain closed until further notice. 📱 We're advising customers to continue to check their journey before travelling as there may be some minor alterations to services due to some trains being out of position following the station closure. #WATCH | Shimla, Himachal Pradesh | The Kalka-Shimla toy train service partially resumed on Thursday (3rd September), with trains operating between Dharampur and Shimla after a section of the heritage railway track near Parwanoo in Solan district remained damaged for over a week. We're sorry for the impact that flooding caused by Storm Chandra is having on our customers. Following Storm Ingrid, a large sink hole has appeared between Dawlish and Teignmouth and this will need to be filled. The railway line between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbott will therefore need to be closed between 19:00 on Wednesday 28 January and 07:00 on Thursday 29th January, to allow this work to take place. Online journey planners are being updated to reflect the changes and customers should check carefully at before they travel. For more information please visit

This Armistice Day, The Queen attended Great Western Railway’s ‘Poppies to Paddington’ initiative, honouring those lost in past and present conflicts. In partnership with The Veterans Charity, wreaths are placed on early-morning train services from over 60 stations, arriving at Paddington for the Remembrance Service. The Queen travelled from Chippenham train station to London Paddington and laid a wreath of poppies at the War Memorial at Platform 1. During the visit, The Queen also met the Military Wives Choir, as well as reservists and veterans from recent conflicts working in the railway industry.
