Near where I live is a small church, and in the cemetery are 2 War Graves. 12 years ago, my son and I 'adopted' one. A ww2 RAF LAC. I discovered the back story, and it touched me. I visit him often and tidy his grave, placing flowers, etc. Today, I cleared the trash that been blown onto the grave. I spent a few minutes with the grave. When Dan and I first saw the grave, about 12 years ago, it was St Davids Day. Almost every grave but this one had daffodils on. Next to this grave was a large bunch of daffs and I asked the person buried there if I could borrow one flower. I know, daft, but it felt right. Anyway, we borrowed one then drove into Caernarfon and bought a bunch. When we got back, I returned the flower, thanked the person and placed the bunch on the War Grave. I often go and just chat to the chap who's buried there. There is a very sad back story but I won't share it. I'm a RCT veteran but will support all veterans, no matter what. I might occasionally take the proverbial, but all arms have my respect.
