Canada is “obviously disappointed” by President Trump imposing additional tariffs on the country, but remains “very optimistic” about trade negotiations, Dominic LeBlanc, Canada’s U.S. trade minister, says. Asked why Canada won’t pull back its retaliatory tariffs on the U.S., LeBlanc points to the tariffs on Canada’s steel industry, and says it is “blocked” from exporting those products to the U.S. “We’re looking and advancing ideas where we can do that work with the United States. If the Supreme Court believes that President Trump does not have the power to continue the tariffs, the American people need to CALL their members of Congress and GIVE him that power. With tariffs, President Trump has: ✅ Reduced the trade deficit. ✅ Brought down the overall deficit. ✅ Made people invest in the United States. Congress needs to get this done ASAP.
