Only became aware of this technique thanks to the Spare Time Repair YouTube channel - usually just replace the switches when needed.

Just spray it with WD-40 and you don't have to take it apart. And the plastic survives.

Keep the clipped plastic and bond it back with the iron or just replace the cheap switch for f sakes

Here I am fixing the brakes on my Campaign Manager’s RAM hoping to get your attention on an issue I care a lot about as a mechanic – Right To Repair. Right to Repair is simple: if you own something, you should be able to fix it or take it to a technician you trust. But for decades, big corporations have chipped away at this right by making repairs difficult, expensive, or even impossible. We need Right To Repair. When I’m in the U.S. Senate, I’ll cosponsor legislation to get it done.
