Stranger Than Heaven releases this Winter | New Gameplay Details: ▫️ Tojo Clan origin story confirmed ▫️ Control your left and right side independently for the first time in combat ▫️ "A story of men who fought, clawed, and struggled to carve out a place for themselves in a Japan undergoing violent change." ▫️ Protagonist is Makoto Daito ▫️ Makoto is of mixed heritage with an American father and Japanese mother ▫️ Makoto’s father died shortly after moving to the US, leaving his Japanese mother isolated with little English ▫️ Eventually, extreme prejudice and hardship in America led to his mother's death as well ▫️ Makoto decides to flee to Japan to start a new life ▫️ Story begins in 1915 when Makoto sneaks onto a ship from San Francisco ➡️ Japan ▫️ Yu Shinjo also joins as a stowaway, becoming Makoto's lifelong friend and rival ▫️ Makoto meets Orpheus (Snoop) on the ship - a smuggler who's a one stop shop for everything (lol) ▫️ Orpheus takes Makoto under his wing upon arriving to Japan and teaches him the tricks of the trade ▫️ Orpheus discovers that Makoto has a passion for music ▫️ Yu is also mixed heritage and older and is able to adapt to Japan faster than Makoto ▫️ Eventually they go their separate ways, but reunite years later when a special opportunity presents itself ▫️ 1915 - Kokura, Fukuoka (gritty industrial area) ▫️ 1929 - Kure, Hiroshima (port city) ▫️ 1943 - Sotenbori, Osaka ▫️ 1951 - Atami, Shizuoka ▫️ 1965 - Kamurocho, Shinjuku ▫️ The two reunite in 1943 Osaka as famous showmen and producers ▫️ Makoto handles the muscle having yakuza experience while Yu is the brains ▫️ Face off against the Italian mafia, Japanese government, and more over the course of 50 years ▫️ Minigames and entertainment are different based on the era ▫️ Music is a very important part of the game ▫️ Makoto can discover new sounds from almost anywhere - broom sweeps, enemy attacks, steam trains, etc ▫️ These sounds can then be combined to create original compositions ▫️ Manage the cabaret club by rearranging your band and scouting new talent ▫️ Real world singers are in the game, including Satoshi Fujihara and Tori Kelly (also does the main theme) ▫️ Combat is considered one of the biggest features ▫️ Control your left and right side independently ▫️ Block with one hand, then quickly counter with the other ▫️ Tackle enemies by pressing LT + RT simultaneously ▫️ Mount enemies and ground pound with both hands ▫️ Various weapons including knives, mallets, hammers, and blades ▫️ Stronger masterwork weapons can also be discovered or crafted ▫️ Blacksmith system using resources collected from the world ▫️ Weapons can have special properties and obtaining and upgrading them is necessary to stay alive ▫️ Finishers and special attacks ▫️ Makoto is far from an upstanding citizen - he's written as a morally gray, complex protagonist ▫️ Releasing Winter 2026 (Dec - Mar) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass day one Personally I think the game looks fantastic.
