Big moment for Postgres! AI coding tools have been surprisingly bad at writing Postgres code. Not because the models are dumb, but because of how they learned SQL in the first place. LLMs are trained on the internet, which is full of outdated Stack Overflow answers and quick-fix tutorials. So when you ask an AI to generate a schema, it gives you something that technically runs but misses decades of Postgres evolution, like: - No GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (added in PG10) - No expression or partial indexes - No NULLS NOT DISTINCT (PG15) - Missing CHECK constraints and proper foreign keys - Generic naming that tells you nothing But this is actually a solvable problem. You can teach AI tools to write better Postgres by giving them access to the right documentation at inference time. This exact solution is actually implemented in the newly released pg-aiguide by Tiger Data - Creators of TimescaleDB, which is an open-source MCP server that provides coding tools access to 35 years of Postgres expertise. In a gist, the MCP server enables: - Semantic search over the official PostgreSQL manual (version-aware, so it knows PG14 vs PG17 differences) - Curated skills with opinionated best practices for schema design, indexing, and constraints. I ran an experiment with Claude Code to see how well this works, and worked with the team to put this together. Prompt: "Generate a schema for an e-commerce site twice, one with the MCP server disabled, one with it enabled. Finally, run an assessment to compare the generated schemas." Every time an AI agent needs to "see" something today, it routes an image through a frontier model. OCR, object detection, checking if a button exists on screen. After 8+ years on the Tesla Autopilot team and 3 years at Intel, I started Apex Compute to design a new architecture for efficient AI inference. For the past 9 months, we’ve been building our custom inference accelerator. Today we’re releasing Unified Engine v1. Last June we raised our seed round with Maxitech , DeepFin Research, Soma Capital and an incredible group of angel investors. In less than 9 months, we completed our RTL architecture and brought our first pre-silicon prototype to life on FPGA. Our architecture combines systolic array and vector processing in a single compute engine with multiple architectural optimizations, achieving very high FLOPs utilization. A single engine is super lean and it uses less than 90K LUTs and 1 MB Block RAM. It may also be one of the smallest logic-footprint compute engines developed so far. Our Unified Engine v1 supports: -matrix-matrix multiplication (~95% FLOPs utilization) -softmax (~90% FLOPs utilization) -broadcast and element-wise operations -RMSNorm / LayerNorm -block quantization/dequantization (fp4, int4) -multi-engine synchronization and many other operations. We even implemented memory-efficient attention similar to FlashAttention, reaching ~90% FLOP utilization. Full benchmarks and the software stack are available on our GitHub: We have basic compiler written in Python and it supports PyTorch tensors directly to easily test and transfer tensors between the accelerator and host using bf16, fp4 and int4 formats. Our FPGA prototype can already run LLM inference and outperform NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, even on a mid-tier FPGA setup (6.4x lower memory bandwidth, 18% slower clock speed at 4.5 Watts). The saw too many Hollywood movies. I first say the VHS in the 1980s and the opening dialog never left me. The value of experience is it allows you to understand the way of things before the inexperienced can put their shoes on. Another example to learn in this video is Japan was the center of the universe. There was largess and I dare say arrogance. They absolutely were convince they would control AI via the government. It did not work out that way, like it ALWAYS does not work out that way. Each generation has to learn the hard lessons that should be obvious. A renegade group in Canada no one cared about to the thread all others dropped and you have AI today because of it. They were the last group to have been seen by the industry to have produced anything. Today the same playbook is being implemented by the largest AI companies full of zero experience and begging for big daddy government to save us from their scary monster. We turn the lights and show it is just some shadows. The entry prediction is accurate already, yet the world did not end. Watch this and see how really immature so many leaders are acting. Who will save us, millions of open source AI developers making thousands of AI models. And inventing the stuff the central controlled commissars never could have thought of. This is always the way it is. It is not “different” this time. They are too immature to know. Give them grace. Now you know better. Now you know. Speak up.

For anyone curious, this was my POV in a video with the russian group 1. I do have to give credit to an amazing moderator, as the MrBeast team seemed short-staffed. One mod stayed active for hours, even very late until 5 AM, so reports were handled slowly because of the short staff because during that time you had to either have to ping a mod or report it in a thread where EVERYONE CAN SEE. so it wasn't until later where you can report things privately 2. I hid usernames because they were trying to provoke and create content for their own video, while we were told not to release anything about the event. until the video was released 3. I'm not jealous of the girls' side losing. You might think, "OMG, you're just jealous because you missed out on 50k!!!" But remember, the prize was split among everyone, so the boys ended up with just $140 USD after 8 days and 6-8 hours of playtime. 4. It wasn't just the boys infiltrating the girls' side that made us fall apart. It was a lot of background toxicity that really added up. Death threats were sent to people, and others got mad at girls and started arguing simply because we were talking to the guys' side. 5. I'm not 100% sure about the bribing. All I know is that a group of girls was called the "Doordash" group because they were bribed to kill other girls so the guys could send them $20 or something involving DoorDash. I don't know the full story. 6. My entire group survived the competition thanks to our leader Oxy's incredible skybase. Our traps killed a few boys, and we had nearly unlimited arrows to shoot at them so a . A lot of things were really was cut out of from the video , even though there was a lot of were many interesting groups on the girls side. we We even had Jimmy, Ish, And and Nolan watching our showdown while we fought off 20 boys that were towering to us.

Today we're announcing #GAIA1: a 9B parameter world model, trained on 4,700 hours of driving data, able to simulate complex and diverse driving scenes from video, text and action inputs. This model is 480x larger than the preview we shared earlier this year and the results are incredible. These videos are entirely synthetically generated by Wayve's generative AI, GAIA-1. But there is more here than just generating videos, GAIA is an entire world model. A world model allows us to simulate the future, conditioned on video, text and action inputs, which can be leveraged for making informed decisions when driving. Why is this game-changing for autonomous driving? 1. Safety. One limitation with AI systems like today's Large Language Models is that they are autoregressive, next-word prediction algorithms, but aren't necessarily aware of the implications of their decisions. A world model allows us to give our AI the capability to be aware of its decisions, by simulating the future, which is important for self-driving safety. 2. Synthetic training data. I believe synthetic training data is the future for AI, because it is safer, cheaper, and infinitely scalable. GAIA-1 unlocks unprecedented realism and diversity of synthetic data for self-driving. 3. Long-tail robustness. One of the biggest challenges for self-driving is long-tail robustness: dealing with the enormous magnitude of edge cases we see on the road. An advantage of generative AI is its incredible ability to recombine experiences in new ways. This is exciting for self-driving as it means we can learn from two edge case scenarios, and combine them to become a corner case. For example, we can experience driving in fog, and experience of jay-walking pedestrians, and GAIA can learn from these experiences to understand how to generate a fog+jay walking scenario. The coding on this has been a bit insane - things done since part 1 post previous: Implemented dual buffering - Last video was single buffered - so VRAM is very tight now , we only have about 40/2048 tiles free. For the longest time I didn't think it would fit - I found a vram jigsaw puzzle that made it work in the end. Double buffering has cleaned up the stability of the animation and matches the arcade scaling effect now albiet costing 2x more VRAM . Vertical Scaling Implemented - the vertical scaler was taken from Lufthoheit ( my other shooter ) and its heavily optimised to reduce cpu usage. During the scaling the vertical scaler partitions the 68k processor registers into 2 sets, 4 registers are allocated to feeding the fast horizontal interrupt (h-int) that drives the vertical scaling , remaining 12 registers are for the horizontal scaler running in the background. This setup is much faster than normal backup / restore register methods, as we do not need to backup / restore registers in the h-int which would double CPU costs. The catch is the momment any background routine tries to use the H-ints registers it would break things so it has to be carefully timed. Added the spike projectiles - this was very tricky to get close to the arcade, they are semi heat seeking missiles basically and hence needed code that worked out angle differences to player at speed theres no time for arc-tan or similar so it uses faster lookup tables to work out the angles . They speed up over time and get larger and whats more we can't keep all the scales in VRAM - we have room for 2 spike buffers only. Also what was a real pain was working out scaled coordinates for the circular launch of the spikes . Added Fish Damage - Shock frame and Explosion frames from Arcade . Very proud of the fact we have the full arcade quality explosion is which is fully scaled also. Added Temporal Masking - which is fancy wording for don't draw nothing to buffer if nothing is there already there for the scaling . So empty Corners and edges can be optimised out to lower cpu costs and rom costs. I had to make some scripting for this and work out what areas did not need drawing at all in the frame, which should be force cleared by cpu and which areas should just be copied from rom. This reduced rom size by 30 kb and with a bit more work we could extend that to 60 kb & get a bit more speedup even doing so. Added a frame limiter . In the last video update we let the 68k burn hot and just pump out frames as fast as it could - here we match the arcade animation rate which does leave the cpu idling at times , particularly in the smaller frames - even at large though we could be running the animation 25 % faster , issue is though that would speed up the game logic and make it less arcade accurate. We had some real bullet / Spike hell simulations going without the limiter but yeah we had to tone it down a bit. Maybe in a hardcore mode we could let it run wild though ! Code is 95% 68k assembly with about 5% C code (v-int as its cold path ) driving things . This sort of thing needs all the speed it can get !! Well now after all that I can return to finish off Level 1 haha - just a wee sidetrack there . The character we spent by far the longest creating for #Transformers ROTB was Air Razor. We spent over a year working on just her and her variants. The reason she took so long was because there was no unified vision for what she was supposed to look like. We had initial concepts but the leadership team from the studio wasn't happy with how she looked when we matched to them so we had to iterate and develop different styles until they were happy. Our asset supervisor did a mockup redesign of her head to look more like a golden eagle which they liked a lot, this is what the final head shape was decided to be. We opted to match her styling to a peregrine falcon as the animation director really liked the breakup and contrast that provided. She is the only hero character in the film without an alt mode. She only has her bird form. It was decided during the concepting stages of the film that she would not have a robot form. To make her talk, it was decided by the animation director early on that her beak would semi transform to enable some more expressive talking animations as opposed to her just opening and closing her beak. We spent a very long time on her feathers, in modelling, look development, and rigging, ensuring that we matched to the directors vision and that they looked good in shots. She had over 9 variants, each for a different part of the film. She had a battle mode, damage states, and a "virus" infected mode for when she was infected by Scourge. Each of these also had different variants, totalling the final 9 seen in the film. We added a lot of engraving details to her, each being in the official Maximal language, translated from English. For example, the engraving on her chest says "In the absence of light, darkness prevails" Air Razor was a big creative and technical challenge and a massive team effort to get right. We had plenty of sleepless nights while trying to figure her out. This is one-shot assembly: you show examples of what to build, and the robot just does it. (see original post: To share more on how this works, the robot is controlled in real time by a neural network that takes in video pixels and outputs 100Hz actions. The video below is part of the raw input passed directly into the model. I also like this view (at 1x speed) because it shows more of the (I think very cool) subtle moments of dexterity near the fingertips 👌 One-shot assembly seemed like a dream even just a year ago — it's not easy. It requires both the high-level reasoning of "what to build" (recognizing the geometry of the structures presented by the human), and the low-level visuomotor control of "how to build it" (purposefully re-orienting individual pieces and nudging them together in place). While possible to manually engineer a complex system for this (e.g. w/ hierarchical control, or explicit state representations), we were curious if our own Foundation model could do it all end-to-end with just some post-training data. Surprisingly, it just worked. Nothing about the recipe is substantially different than any other demo we’ve run in the past, and we’re excited about its implications on model capabilities: • On contextual reasoning, these models can (i) attend to task-related pixels in the peripheral view of the video inputs, and (ii) retain this knowledge in-context while ignoring irrelevant background. This is useful for generalizing to a wide range of real workflows: e.g. paying attention to what’s coming down the conveyor line, or glancing at the instructions displayed on a nearby monitor. • On dexterity, these models can produce contact-rich "commonsense" behaviors that can be difficult to pre-program or write language instructions for e.g. rolling a brick slightly to align its studs against the bottom of another, re-grasping to get a better grip or to move out of the way before a forceful press, or gently pushing the corners of a brick against the mat to rotate it in hand and stand it up vertically (i.e. extrinsic dexterity). These aspects work together to form a capability that resembles fast adaptation — a hallmark of intelligence, relevant for real use cases. This has also expanded my own perspective on what's possible with robot learning, using a recipe that's repeatable for many more skills. This milestone stands on top of the solid technical foundations we’ve built here at Generalist: hardcore controls & hardware, all in-house built models, and a data engine that "just works." We're a small group of hyper-focused engineers, and hands-down the highest talent-density team I’ve ever worked with. We're accelerating and scaling aggressively towards unlocking next-generation robot intelligence. Building Legos is just one example, and it's clear to me that we're headed towards a future where robots can do just about anything we want them to. Its coming, and we're going to make it happen.

Chapter 1 Pre-Alpha "Explore. Craft. Survive." will be dropping this quarter welcoming the very first inhabitants to #E2V1 & introduce early mechanics that will form the foundation of life inside #Earth2🌍✌️ Read below for important details: This update is no longer a simple avatar release but a significant update to the entire foundation of the #E2V1 world. When I first talked about dropping avatars I was eager to keep things moving and referred to a very simple system to test skins and movement, then to subsequently implement the full version after that. While this approach would have brought new content out quickly, it could have turned into weeks of extra development time with little upside for the wider community, apart from testing the movement and appearance of the avatars, there would have been little else to do until another subsequent update. Therefore I made the decision to focus solely on implementing the core part of the full system we plan to use long term on the platform. I apologise that this release will take a little longer than originally anticipated, having moved away from the initial lower spec'd plan, but I'd like to get this right & ready for a wider audience to start using and enjoying. As much as I'd love to push out updates faster, I will be taking this approach to #E2V1 development in the future as well. The plan will still be to release to our testing group first after our internal QA, test and then stabilise. If all looks good and we're happy with how everything is performing, we will push forward with a public release. There will inevitably be ongoing adjustments, additions and tweaks to these type of systems over time. It may seem like a long time, but #E2V1 was only released to our testing group 7 weeks ago! How crazy is that? I know for me it feels like many months already. Nonetheless, during this short period of time we have not only released a couple of updated versions, and an updated version to the Earth 2 Launcher, but the team has also been working incredibly hard on the #E2V1 and #BE mechanics for the Chapter 1 systems - and there is a lot involved in this upcoming release. We will be dropping an article later this week, which I believe will help our community understand the extensive list of features planned for this release and in turn explain why it is taking a little longer. I'd rather not spoil all of the details, but the article contains a lot of information about the various systems we're developing including rules of life, avatar synthesisation, death, saving, skins, day/night cycles, free to play model, avatar vitals, how land ownership fits in with all of this and much more. It is important to keep in mind that each of these systems needed to be designed and implemented, which takes time. The article will also begin to reveal some of the design plans I have been working on to increase utility for T1 land, which will also include various T1 classes. I also intend to follow through and expand utility on T1 land into other upcoming mechanics on the platform, some of which will be revealed in a separate article in the near future and are also part of the Chapter 1 release. Ideally, all going well, we will be testing early multiplayer at some stage this quarter and as mentioned earlier this year #Hordes in Q3, #EggHunt in Q4 & maybe some early buildings on properties. In addition to these goals, we have a couple of wild card features floating around in between as well. I know I reiterate it from time to time, but the long term goal for #Earth2 has not changed. We are building a #geolocational #metaverse - a platform! We still want #Players building cities, providing more individualised experiences, advertising, trading, shopping, e-commerce, socialising and so forth. And I still have plans to link #E2V1 into #AR and support #VR, but we cannot do all of this at once. I am also looking at ways we can expand the team and setup a studio, probably in East Asia, to speed up development. The current features we're focusing on plan to expand utility for land on a wide scale & introduce various experiences inside #E2V1, providing potential benefits for land owners & #Players alike on a broader level, while at the same time allowing our team to introduce mechanics that will be used throughout the future of the platform, test limitations and work our way around challenges as they arise. If an AI can control 1,000 robots to perform 1 million skills in 1 billion different simulations, then it may "just work" in our real world, which is simply another point in the vast space of possible realities. This is the fundamental principle behind why simulation works so effectively for robotics. Real-world teleoperation data scales linearly with human time (< 24 hrs/robot/day). Sim data scales exponentially with compute. There are 3 big trends for simulators in the near future: 1. Massive parallelization on large clusters. Physics equations are "just" matrix math at their core. I hear GPUs are good at matrix math 🔥. One can run 100K copies of simulation on a single GPU. To put this number in perspective: 1 hour of wallclock compute time gives a robot 10 years (!!) of training experience. That's how Neo was able to learn martial arts in a blink of an eye in the Matrix Dojo. 2. Generative graphics pipeline. Traditionally, simulators require a huge amount of manual effort from artists: 3D assets, textures, scene layouts, etc. But every component in the workflow can be automated: text-to-image, text-to-3D mesh, and LLMs that write Universal Scene Description (USD) files as a coding exercise. RoboCasa is one example of a prior work. 3. End2end neural net that acts as simulator itself. This is still bluesky research and quite far from replacing a graphics pipeline, but we are seeing some exciting signs-of-life based on video gen models: Sora, Veo2, CogVideoX, Hunyuan (text-to-video); and action-driven world models: GameNGen, Oasis, Genie-2, etc. Genesis does great on (1) for certain tasks, shows good promises on (2), and could become a data generation tool for reaching (3). Its sim2real capabilities for locomotion are good, but there's still a long way to go for contact-rich, dexterous manipulation. It shows a bold vision and is on the right path to providing a virtual cradle for embodied AI. It is open-source and puts a streamlined user journey at the front and center. I had the privilege to know Zhou Xian and play a small part in his project since a year ago. Xian has been crunching code non-stop on Genesis with a very small group of core devs. He often replied to my messages at 3 am. Zhenjia Xu from our GEAR team helped with sim2real experiments in his spare time. Genesis is truly a grassroot effort with an intense focus on quality engineering. Nothing gives me more joy than seeing the simulation ecosystem bloom. Robotics should be a moonshot initiative owned by all of humanity. Congratulations.

The result is hyper-specific, tailored to the user and much more efficient. Today, agents help us build workflows, automate processes and pull together disparate sources of data. All of the annoying apps and services and clunky interface we’ve put up with can just disappear. We can now program and control our computers in the programming language we already know: English. There aren’t that many of us doing this yet, though. It’s still far too hard to set up, to distribute and to trust. There’s also no single platform to experiment on and collaboratively imagine this new future of personal computing. We want everyone to be able to build bespoke, ultra-personal software on demand. We think software should be as available and accessible as a pen and paper. We think anyone should be able to enjoy the expanse of possibility that the computer provides with the lowest possible barrier to entry and the highest possible quality. Each skin starts from concept art which is reviewed and iterated on numerous times before being approved. Once approval is given, it is handed to our 3D modelling team for sculpting into high poly, then low poly, while receiving numerous reviews and adhering to our pipeline protocols. When the low poly version is finished, the 3D team then finishes with UV mapping and texture baking and runs their own QA process. Once the entire 3D sculpting process is approved, the models enter the skinning, rigging and weight painting process and are then passed to the animation team for further testing with various animations and another set of QA such as minimising clipping and identifying any other potential flaws in the model. The model then needs to go through the final process with a game developer to ensure it passed the final tests and is game ready for #E2V1. 8⃣ The above steps only represent a light explanation of our character and clothing pipeline, but as you can see we’re not simply selling static concept art images or a high poly 3D model that lacks any kind of optimisations resulting in little chance of it ever being game ready in its advertised state - there is a lot of work that takes place in order to get these skins to the stage our #Players see them in the video footage.
