Update: ABSOLUTE DISGRACE FOR DENMARK Captain Paul Watson was arrested by Danish authorities this morning believed to be due to an Interpol red notice issued in 2012 following an arrest warrant from Japan. Japan, which recently inaugurated the largest whaling ship ever built, has been conducting illegal hunts in... the Antarctic whaling sanctuary for many years. Paul Watson has long opposed these hunts and led anti-whaling missions in Antarctica. Denmark, which militarily defends the dolphin massacres in the Faroe Islands, is now aiding Japan, despite Japan being convicted by the International Court of Justice in The Hague for illegal whaling in the Antarctic sanctuary. The crew had stopped to refuel while en route to the Northwest Passage as part of #OpKangeiMaru, our campaign aimed at intercepting Japan’s newly-built factory ship, the Kangei Maru, in the North Pacific. Never have Japan’s future intentions been more obvious than now. Last year saw the launch of the ‘Kangei Maru’ the new US$47 million dollar whale factory ship built for long range voyages. Currentlytwo Japanese harpoon vessels (‘Yushin Maru #2’ & ‘Yushin Maru #3’) operated by Kyodo Senpaku are on a research voyage in Antarctica. They are due south of Australia within 30 miles of the Australian Antarctic Territories coastline. As if the presence of two whale killing vessels in Antarctica was not a clear enough sign, the Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology (TUMSAT) have also sent their huge oceanographic research vessel, the ‘Umitaka Maru’ to the exact same location in Antarctica. TUMSAT contributes data on whale populations, ecosystems and marine resource modelling to the ICR. TUMSAT’s research is often cited by Japan to justify its whaling activities as being scientifically grounded and aligned with sustainable practices. However, critics argue that such research is used to prioritize national interests over conservation efforts. TUMSAT have also had their personnel onboard the whaling vessels providing them with expertise and resources during such programs as the JARPN II (Japanese Whale Research Program North Pacific). It is unsure when Japan may decide to send the Kangei Maru and its killer harpoon ships to the Southern Ocean, but should they decide to attempt whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary the Captain Paul Watson Foundation will be there ready to confront them. This cop takes down elderly man that just had two knee replacements and costs the city a huge settlement. The incident began as a minor, verbal neighborhood dispute at an apartment complex involving a tenant's assistant and a resident named Carrie. While Deputy Robert Glaser was investigating, another resident, Gregory Whaling, stepped outside with his dog. Whaling, who was recovering from two major knee replacement surgeries and walked with a cane, vocalized his frustration at the situation. Instead of de-escalating the environment, Deputy Glaser immediately turned his aggression toward Whaling, threatening to lock him in the back of a patrol car for "interfering." When Whaling stood his ground, gestured to his surgically repaired legs, and dared the deputy by saying, “I bet you won’t,” Glaser snapped. This isn't policing—it's classic bully behavior. The moment his authority was verbally challenged, Glaser escalated the situation. He took down the man to place him in custody. You can hear Whaling reminding the deputy about his knee replacement, only to be ignored. Glaser proceeded to book Whaling on a bogus charge of resisting/obstructing an officer (PC 148(a)(1)). But justice ultimately caught up with this badge-heavy behavior: The District Attorney flat-out refused to file charges against Whaling. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department fired Deputy Robert Glaser for false arrest and excessive force. Riverside County was forced to pay a massive $498,000 settlement to Whaling after a federal civil rights lawsuit was filed. Bad policing is expensive, dangerous, and entirely unacceptable. Justice for Cody Harper the 20 years old who was attacked by 3 men and arrested is now due in court. He was taken to Perry Barr police station and left in the cells until the following day.
