The docket also includes the inspection of the engines and in particular, engine two which showed a few performance blips prior to the crash but with recovery to commanded speeds. So, I don't believe there's evidence that debris were ingested into engine 2, instead the performance problems were related to the flames from the wing entering engine 2. Some of the footage appears to support this.

A drone has been found on the beach in Burgas, Bulgaria. It was first spotted last Friday, but only pulled from the water today. The Saunders-Roe SR.A/1 was the World's 1st jet-powered flying boat. British prototype flew on July 16, 1947, hitting 512 mph with twin Beryl turbojets. Saunders-Roe believed that water-based planes could operate from forward staging areas much closer to targets than land-based fighters. This would cut down the time and effort needed to launch missions—especially attacks—while also helping offset the short range of early jets by basing them nearer the action. No runways or big support setup required—just any suitable stretch of water. RAF rejected it as inferior to land jets; US & others showed interest, but no orders. 3 built; 2 crashed (1 fatal). ❗️ A Russian Orion strike drone appears to have crashed beside the highway leading out of Crimea near Kerch. Russian tourists waiting at the Kerch Bridge checkpoint to leave Crimea from the Kerch side on June 26, 2026, filmed burning UAV wreckage in a field next to them. According to those at the scene, the drone was shot down directly overhead by air defenses. Based on what is visible from this angle, the wreckage bears a resemblance to a Russian Orion strike UAV, although the available footage is not ideal. But most likely, it was one of the Russian Orion drones based at the Kerch airfield that was either brought down by Russia's paranoid air defenses or decided to self-destruct, which, in the case of the Orion, is not uncommon, as these drones have a well documented tendency to crash during landing.

The fire on engine #1 was catastrophic.. an uncontained failure that sent debris flying uncontrollably... but the real killer was the immediate compressor stall on #2, visible right here in the footage as that telltale puff of flame. This almost certainly resulted from Foreign Object Debris (FOD) ingestion, where fragments from #1's explosion were sucked into #2's intake, disrupting airflow and surging the compressor blades. Watch the sudden yaw to the left post-stall: that's the asymmetric thrust kicking in, with only engine #3 (tail-mounted) left producing power. For a fully loaded MD-11 like UPS Flight 2976, heavy with cargo and fuel for its route, climbing out on a single engine was impossible.. performance data shows these birds need at least two for safe ascent under max takeoff weight.Pilots did everything by the book; ATC audio suggests they declared emergency instantly. No procedural tweak could've changed this outcome. RIP to the three lost on board, thoughts with the injured ground personnel.
