The child will sleep, no joke, in the social worker’s office until they find a placement. They will put them in hotels until they find a placement. In certain states, like I said, they will just put them in detention centers. And by the way, when the child with no criminal record is put in a detention center, now they have a record. He wanted to provoke me.” Palestinian prisoner Faraj Al-Sammoni recounts the physical and mental torture he suffered in Israeli detention. Faraj was detained in October 2023 and was released at the beginning of July 2024. Faraj said that when his brothers came to pick him up, they did not recognise him due to the significant weight loss he experienced in Israeli detention.
