Dolly is 80 yrs old, and that is the story. She can no longer go at the pace she was. Usually by that age the ticker gets a little irregular, among other things.

Most people never saw Dolly Parton like this. “I’m going to get out of this tub and get on a wig before I wreck my image.” She said it on her own show, sitting in a bubble bath with her real hair, after joking that her daddy didn’t like her on television that way. She was already in on the joke. She always was.

Would have been great to meet her in real life she helped so many people and she had so much more to do in her life she was an inspiration to so many. Sylvester Stallone tells a story about his time with Dolly Parton It’s hard to imagine a world without Dolly Parton. An American icon and a brilliant woman, beloved by so many. I have many fond memories of our time on the set of Rhinestone. Dolly Parton says Sylvester Stallone helped her lose weight after she lost confidence in herself

Dolly Parton made life better. By how much? That depends on your personal experience with Parton. But I don’t care who you are or where you’re from, Dolly Parton made life better - at least to some degree. Parton is a once in a generation human being. Forget singing. Forget acting. Just remember her humanity. If more successful people behaved & carried themselves like Dolly Parton, this world would be a better place. RIP to the most legendary of legends.

Dolly Parton says she was never a “natural beauty” “It is true that I look artificial, but I believe that I’m totally real, and my look is really based on a country girl’s idea of glam.” “I wasn’t naturally pretty, so I make the most of anything I’ve got.” Interviewer: “Hold on a second.” Dolly Parton: “I’m telling you, I’m not.” Interviewer: “You were not naturally pretty?” Dolly Parton: “No.” Interviewer: “I’ve seen the pictures, Dolly. I’m sorry. I have to disagree with that.” Dolly Parton: “You should have seen me this morning before I got ready to see you.” “I’m not like a natural beauty. Uh, but I can enhance it. Whatever. Whatever it takes, I do.” “I try to make the most of everything.”

Matt Gaetz pays the late Dolly Parton a tribute on The Anchormen: GAETZ: “I have to give a tribute to the great Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton was more than an actress or a songwriter. She was a symbol of Southern excellence, and throughout time in America, frankly, the South has been denigrated. Put down. There was the belief that intelligence, business acumen, creativity, emerged from the Northeast or the West, but Dolly Parton showed that talent grows everywhere, even on a hillside in Tennessee where she made a name for herself in her small town that she never forgot with millions and millions of dollars in charitable donations. After amassing an incredible fortune, Dolly Parton has passed, but in in these times we live in such a cultural moment where, when an icon like Dolly Parton passes you almost get to re-enjoy some of their fantastic creations all over again. Dolly Parton's music is topping some of the iTunes downloads, and I know family members who are watching her movies again to re-enjoy all the magic that was Dolly Parton. But one moment stands out to me: It is when Barbara Walters gets the opportunity to interview Dolly Parton and instead of exploring that talent, majesty and Southern excellence, Barbara Walters tries to degrade the upbringing of Dolly Parton and she handled it masterfully.” WATCH NOW:

“Governor, would you please get out of the way so we can see her?” a woman shouted at me as I rode in a convertible with Dolly Parton at the opening of Dollywood in 1986. In 2014, several governors, senators, and the U.S. Secretary of the Interior were at Newfound Gap for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. But the crowd had come to see one person: Dolly. Those of us in public life quickly learned, “If you want to be noticed, don’t ride in a convertible with Dolly Parton.” “I was born in Boogertown,” Dolly told me when we visited at the Dollywood opening. I told her that my walk across Tennessee in 1978 to become governor had created many unexpected conversations. One of those was in Sevierville after I shook hands with a missionary doctor, Robert F. Thomas, who had delivered Dolly in a one-room cabin on the Little Pigeon River. Later, Dolly wrote a song about Dr. Thomas. In her bedroom at Dollywood was a photograph of her Sevier County high school senior class. “Where are you in the picture?” I asked Dolly. “Where would you expect me to be?” she said and pointed to herself sitting in the middle of the front row. God gave Dolly a basket full of gifts in addition to her extraordinary songwriting and singing abilities. She was a shrewd businesswoman. And she was generous. She used her celebrity to provide books to millions of children, to help victims of fire in her home county, and to provide $1 million for research to speed up a COVID vaccine. Dolly loved everyone, and in today’s polarized world, she seemed to be the one person everybody loved. I think it was because she was bona fide. Dolly was always herself, the mountain girl who never stopped singing or sounding like where she grew up.

Kesha paid tribute to Dolly Parton with a cover of "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You)," a song her mother co-wrote and that Parton took to number one in 1980. “For those of you who don’t know, I come from a long lineage of songwriters and before I was born, my mom actually wrote a song for Dolly Parton. And that song bought us a house, like a roof. That song put me through school,” Kesha told the Pittsburgh crowd on Wednesday.

Dolly Parton once pulled a gun on a man in New York who thought she was playing hard to get. 😂 “This guy wouldn't leave me alone because he was just sure I was playing hard to get, that I was really after it.” “So I didn't know how to get him off me, so I just said, I just pulled my gun out and I just said, 'If you touch me one more time I'm gonna shoot you.” “And so he backed off. Well, actually he did laugh, and my friend Judy started laughing because she thought it was the funniest thing she'd ever seen, and so then he thought it was a joke anyway.” Dolly Parton was a country girl from the mountains, dropped into 42nd Street, carrying a gun in her purse, and when a stranger wouldn’t take no for an answer, that became her solution. 😂 But underneath the humor, there’s something very Dolly about the story. She doesn’t frame herself as fearless or tough; she tells it almost like a ridiculous misunderstanding that happened to her. Even when she pulls the gun, her friend Judy is laughing, completely changing the tone of the encounter. It’s a great example of how Dolly could turn an uncomfortable moment into a story people would remember. May her soul rest in eternal peace. 🪦
