"The the elite shooting from mid range is such a big deal in our game, it's the late-clock ability, his overall size, his ability to play in the middle of the floor, which is really hard to come double people and not give up the three point line to a team like they have, I would just say his continued evolution in his game. "He's an elite, All-Star player, two-way player. I just watched him grow over the years, not just the championship year, but with Jayson Tatum, obviously out, more responsibility falls into his hands, and I thought they did a great job building around him for this particular season, with all the shooting that surrounds him." Happy Birthday to Ricky Watters one of the greatest to ever wear the Golden Helmet!! In 4yrs he rushed for 1814yds and 21tds along with 41recs for 610yds. He was a part of the 1988 National Championship team where he returned 2 punts for touchdowns that season. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 1991 Draft where he was selected as the #45 overall pick. During his NFL career he rushed for 10,643yds, 78 rushing TDs, 467recs for 4,248yds and 13TDs. A huge reason for ASU’s success this season: strength coach Joe Connolly. I played for Coach Connolly at UMass and I can tell you firsthand — he delivers. Connolly is great at developing players and instilling confidence in them. Take star running back Cam Skattebo for example — he dropped 10 pounds in the offseason and is now more explosive than ever. Look at ASU’s dominance at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They controlled Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship — a team known for its toughness. That has Connolly’s influence written all over it. The ability of Kenny Dillingham to bring in transfers and for his staff to maximize their development in such a short time is incredible.

After 10 years of traveling the country with my son Grant Scholzen as my travel partner as an MLB scout and in my baseball capacity now, I was let go 3.5 years ago by the Milwaukee Brewers for CoVid reasons and it has become a blessing in disguise! It freed me up to watch every HS game he played and almost 90% of his summer/fall action from coast to coast, along with national invite showcase teams and events, where he garnered recruiting attention. Now the day came to watch him make his D1 debut this past week. He was able to play 3 innings defensively and as is custom, the ball found him at 2B in all 3 innings. Made all the plays flawlessly, with a “slow” heartbeat and did his thing! The AB’s will come… He’s a great teammate and has his fellow players respect for who he is as a ballplayer and more importantly as a person! His step mother Cami, for the past 8 years also hauled him around when he was young, while Dad was making other players dreams come true and she was able to see the dream realized as well. No matter what the future holds, his passion and endless work ethic made his dream come true! He will continue to grind, work and prove people wrong! His late mother Heidi, who passed away when he was 9 years old, would have been so proud and I know she’s been by his side in spirit and will continue to be by his side, wherever the dream takes him. Only 2% make it to where he’s at, and although I help other young men, in the end he’s my 🔝 priority and the most important player in my portfolio! I love you Grant ❤️

Lately, it's become a trend to talk about Carlos as if he only started learning to play tennis well (for some, even to be educated) at 15. As if one coach is the only responsible for his success and for who he is in every aspect. Meanwhile, this was Carlos at age 10 in Murcia. One can acknowledge the work of a coach and give him credit without diminishing the player, who is the one holding the racket and coming back in historic 5: 30 hours finals, as if he didn't exist or have anything to do with his own success or who he is. A world number one, the youngest in history, isn't solely the work of a coach. Is also the work of his family, all his team and people, but above all, it's HIS OWN WORK, his talent, his commitment to his dream, and his constant sacrifice since childhood. Even if every now and then he has the audacity to need to rest for a few days with his friends or family.

From abject mediocrity for a decade, Michigan has now won 3 straight games over Ohio State, 3 straight Big Ten Championships, 3 straight College Football Playoff berths, and currently the #1 team in the country playing in the Rose Bowl. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball, primarily for the St. Louis Cardinals, from 1990 to 2004, with a brief stint with the San Diego Padres in 2001-2002. After a taste of the big leagues in 1990, Lankford would finished 3rd in voting for the National League's Rookie of the Year in 1991. Lankford was known for his combination of power and speed, hitting 238 home runs and stealing 258 bases over his career. He spent most of his career with the Cardinals, where he became a fan favorite. His best season was arguably 1998, when he hit .293 with 31 home runs and 105 RBIs. Lankford hit 123 home runs at Busch Stadium II, the most of any player in the stadium's history. He finished his career in his home ballpark with a pinch hit home run in his final major league at bat on October 3, 2004. He is the only player to have 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases as a Cardinal. After retiring, he has occasionally been involved in coaching and mentoring young players. OVERCOACHING 👎 When in played in Europe I was speaking with the GM of my team and discussion some of the former coaches they had at the club. We got to an American Coach they had and he said ‘typical American coach, he overcoached the whole game’. I’m not saying I agree with this, but it made me think about the role of a coach and how too much talking/coaching can hinder performance and development. I am still not great at it, but try to be mindful of how and what I say. One of the best attributes a coach can have is learning when to ‘stay out of the way’ of their players.

With ND Nation continuing to pray for Coach Lou Holtz and his family, it’s a great time to flashback to the 2009 Japan Bowl (at the Tokyo Dome) where Coach Lou Holtz came back to coach his former players in one last game. Lou Holtz led 57 of his former players to a 19-3 victory over the Japanese National Team. MVP of the game went to former RB Jay Vickers. With ND Nation continuing to pray for Coach Lou Holtz and his family, it’s a great time to flashback to the 2009 Japan Bowl (at the Tokyo Dome) where Coach Lou Holtz came back to coach his former players in one last game. Lou Holtz led 57 of his former players to a 19-3 victory over the Japanese National Team. MVP of the game went to former RB Jay Vickers.
