🚨#UPDATE: Here is the view from the construction workers building the lava defensive wall a few hours ago when the first fissure occurred. They were surrounded by molten lava but managed to escape with almost all their vital equipment before the site was subsumed.

🚨#BREAKING: A new volcano fissure has opened up a few hundred feet next to the town of Grindavík 📌#Grindavík | #Iceland Currently, a new volcano fissure has opened up a few hundred feet from the town of Grindavík, following the main eruption around 8 am Iceland time this morning. This occurred after a series of powerful earthquake swarms shook the country's southwestern Reykjanes Peninsula. Large amounts of lava are currently flowing, producing lava whirls. Numerous emergency crews, along with construction crews, are actively working to protect the town by building rock barriers to divert the lava flows.

Oh wow, im glad the crews made it out of there. It’s too bad they had to abandon some equipment, but their lives are worth more.

Building walls works for keeping unpleasantries out.

Now that what I call… a sticky situation. 😬

This is bravery .. crazy but brave

I dont understand how they had literally the entire history of that town to build a levy/wall, given that the town was next to a volcano, and they decided not to.

Why do humans think they can control nature?

Just watched a live stream. There are 2 fissures. One outside the berm and one inside. The one outside the berm has breached the berm and is slowly following the road into town. The fissure inside the berm is directly threatening structures.

Was Tommy Lee Jones helping?

@rawsalerts Thanks for all you do!

Incredible footage.
