Kshamenk would have to go to a sea enclosure and be taught how to feed himself again. But yes, he needs to be rescued, poor soul. His mental and physical health is suffering terribly.

He was often seen lying motionless at the bottom of the tank, only surfacing to breathe, swimming endless circles, and still being forced to perform for audiences despite being seriously ill. Kshamenk died suddenly, suffering from a large tumor and multiple severe health problems. Kshamenk was just one of many victims of keeping orcas captive in marine entertainment parks. Marine parks that keep orcas and dolphins in captivity for entertainment shows are one of humanity’s greatest mistakes. They should no longer exist.

The orca, Kshamenk, stares at the gate of the tank for "24 hours a day." Kshamenk's tankmate died in 2000 meaning he has been all alone for 24 years. Orcas are highly social animals that need interaction with each other. "We continue to work with Argentinian activists and members of Congress to try to highlight and address his cruel world," a spokesperson for UrgentSeas said. "He needs to be removed from his tiny concrete tank and to join other members of his species before it's too late."

After over six months of TLC at Argentina’s Mundo Marino, he finally waddled his way to freedom.
