I have seen several videos of Ella where she was constantly ranting about nonavailability of BRT buses to commute people to their various destinations. People wait on a very long queue for as long as one to two or three hours waiting for buses to come. I wonder what kind of a society is so much comfortable with wastage of valuable economic hours at the bus stop, just standing! Do we even understand anything about the value of time in monetary terms. Perhaps Nigerians will learn to value time more if people are getting paid on hourly rates. The eye sore for me was yesterday when Ella who is now otherwise known in the social media space as "BRT lady" was almost beaten up by the same set of people she was speaking up for. A particular lady said "Ella should tell her father to buy buses and put on the road". Imagine that! Sometimes, I wonder if some people have been cursed with suffering and poverty because I'll never understand why some persons can be so antagonistic against someone else who is requesting for a better life. Some other morons online were saying stuffs like "must she use BRT", "why can't she "enter a danfo or korope", "she will soon get tired", "she should go back to her state in the southeast. Ṣé ìṣẹ́ bá àwọn kan mu'lẹ̀ ni? 🤷🤷 Today now, there were many BRT buses on the queue waiting for people to board. My question is "where were all these buses before now"? A government that waits until someone speaks up before providing the basics is an irresponsible government, and so also, a group of people who gang up to shut down someone who is speaking up for something that will benefit everyone is a group of imbeciles and morons. In a sane clime, buses have a time schedule and they move round the clock. Even if there was no one at the bus stop, a bus leaves that bus stop at the time it is meant to leave. It's abnormal for a huge number of people to be waiting for hours at the bus stop and they were all comfortable doing it. Kudos to Ella for making her voice heard. An average person in our society doesn't know the quality of life he/she deserve and that is why those in position of authority will keep treating the poor masses like trash. If you don't know what you deserve, how do you demand for more? It is the ignorance of the ignorants that keeps sustaining a mediocre ecosystem. Bro and sis, please do all you can to escape from the crowd.

On Sunday afternoon, in a drive at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus in Malda, names, logos and stickers mimicking those of government buses were removed from several private buses. Many private buses were operating with colour schemes (blue and white) and names resembling those of the state transport corporation. The use of such colours and names was causing confusion among passengers, particularly women. Following an order from the state government, free travel for women on government buses was introduced on 1 June. However, due to the visual similarity between government and private buses, many female passengers were inadvertently boarding private buses and subsequently getting hassled. Some private buses were displaying names like NBTS, MBTSG, and MMT to mimic the name of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC). Additionally, the vehicles were painted blue and white, just like government buses. On Sunday afternoon, Anupam Chakraborty, the regional transport officer (RTO) of the district, arrived at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus with transport department staff. There, misleading logos and stickers were removed from several private buses. Furthermore, markings and text imitating the state transport corporation’s branding were painted over with black ink. Passengers expressed relief at this move by the transport department. They believe that a clear distinction between government and private buses will prevent future confusion and significantly reduce harassment, especially for female passengers. Maloy Karmakar, in charge of the Malda Depot of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation, stated that the blue-and-white colour scheme has been used on NBSTC buses for many years, and the colour of private buses is not within their jurisdiction. OAU transport system was near perfect, adequate buses and bikes, we rarely experienced queues until the First Lady came and decided she didn’t like the ease of transportation and introduced “change” by donating CNG buses. The school management in turn banned all motorcycles and commercial buses on campus and subjected over 30,000 students to just about 50 buses and a few tricycles. OAU has one of the largest land masses of any Nigerian university, yet students are now stranded daily. This is a Monday morning where students are supposed to rush for class, but they are stuck at the campus gate because of the inefficiency of the CNG buses. Students are struggling to go to class in the morning and in the evenings to even get back to their hostels. Students staying off campus now spend almost double to get to campus, all alternative transport means have been removed The management have cars to bypass all of this, but majority of students do not. Yet they released statements talking about how the buses will “ease transportation” and even implied students appreciate the system. Meanwhile, students are trekking, missing classes, and spending hours in queues. Let it be clear that students do not appreciate this system. It has made our lives harder, not better. What used to be a smooth system has now become a daily struggle. There are many pressing issues in this school, but they chose to dismantle a working transport system and replace it with hardship. A man booked an Airbnb for two people. What they didn’t disclose was one of the guests was a bride for her wedding. That they booked it so her bridal party could get ready in. The host has rules, and that no more than three cars can be parked due to no street parking. The man who actually booked the home was never actually there nor was he going to be there. The bride texted the host and told her, not asked her, that a guest of hers would be staying there as well after the fact. She also ended up having 7 people over and the hosts wanted their ID’s for insurance and liability reasons. The bride didn’t think it was necessary and refused. The bride and the host go back and forth for a while and the host ended up kicking them out while they were getting ready for the wedding. Is it possible the host was being overbearing and overreacted, or is this a case of her house her rules and the bride should have been honest about what they intended to use the property for?
