Please let us use Goma airport and get our dead soldiers home 2. Let us go and find other bodies of our soldiers that might be around Goma 3. Let us go and get food and water One of the M23 commanders said “My family has been in a refugee camp for decades and I decided to fight for my rights and their rights. Even if I die i will die a happy man. I guess i will see you in another battlefield” To which the South African commander said “ we don’t want to fight you guys anymore we just want to go back home” They exchanged numbers and M23 promised them to talk to their leaders in AFC/M23 to grant their requests While South Africans fight on twitter, this is the reality on the ground. I guess Ramaphosa has to be humble.

These engagements have enabled me to identify a number of immediate, practical interventions that can be implemented without delay. I have accordingly convened a meeting with the senior leadership of the SANDF to ensure these low-hanging fruits are implemented as a matter of urgency.
