Both victims were transported to Brookdale Hospital. The 44-year-old man was later pronounced dead, while the 39-year-old remains in stable condition. Detectives say both shootings are connected to Acosta, who remains on the lose.

About 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, a gunman entered 149 Grill & Deli at 143 East 149th Street near Walton Avenue in the Bronx. Surveillance video showed the suspect shoot customer Tayvon Shuler, 33, in the chest. Shuler was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he later died. Police said the gunman then took cash from the register and fled. A maroon hooded sweatshirt believed to have been worn by the suspect was recovered nearby on Walton Avenue. Acosta's parole officer reportedly identified him from the surveillance footage. Police said he was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and white sneakers. Authorities said Acosta has 13 prior arrests, including an armed robbery arrest at age 14. He was also arrested in connection with several other offenses before being convicted for a 2015 subway-platform shooting in Harlem.
