According to Mpumalanga SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the matter is being treated with seriousness, and an internal investigation has already been instituted to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. “In addition to the internal investigation, a criminal investigation is also underway to ensure that all aspects of the matter are addressed transparently,” Mdhluli said. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has also been notified and is expected to conduct a parallel investigation.
