How can we invest?

Please depict the Stripling Warriors as young men who had the "mark" removed from them because of the faith of their parents. So many people do not understand what this means. I literally interpret the scripture, but perhaps I err.

I tend to interpret the scriptures literally as well. However, I don’t believe the “mark” is ever mentioned of being removed till 3rd Nephi.

Of the top if my head I can't cite the reference, but I know it is mentioned as applying to the Anti-Nephi-Lehis. I remember this distinctly because when I read this "my mind was opened" and I researched it back to Nephi. I also had a doctrinal discussion about it with my father.

Curse = the dark skins the Lord placed upon the Lamanites to separate them from the Nephites

That’s an interesting verse, actually. It differs from 3 Nephi 2:15, where it says that the “curse was TAKEN” and “their skin became white.” The wording in Alma 23:18 isn’t as strong. “The curse did no more FOLLOW them” doesn’t necessarily mean it was taken. It could mean that it didn’t follow or pass to their descendants. If that’s the case, the stripling warriors were born before this shift took place. They were children when their parents first made the covenant. Anyway, long story short, I believe you can interpret it either way. It gets more clear-cut in 3 Nephi.

Thank you for sharing your take on this. It's nice to have someone to bounce your thoughts off of and to see another perspective. I see your point entirely and it rests easy with me. I've long sought to understand this verse and have only gotten "Interesting" as a response. You're a good man Dustin.

This series has been needed for a very long time

I always kinda pictured Helaman as a bookish man; someone who was called to keep the record and minister rather than lead an army. They were just supposed to be a diversion, which makes their choice to turn and fight even more brave. He was entrusted to protect them, and he did!

I love what you're doing Dustin. Something about the Stripling Warriors that I feel is often overlooked is the example of their fathers. We know the emphasize is on the teachings of their mothers of course, but we never really dive into the reason why. The answer, I believe, comes several chapters before when the lamanite men bury their weapons of war deep in the earth and covenant not to shed the blood of their brothers and sisters anymore. We are told that well over a thousand of these men were killed entirely unarmed as they prostrated themselves before their enemies on two different occasions. Surely many of these men were fathers, with young children, who died as covenant keepers and believers in Christ. They showed their wives, and children, that their commitment to God and the covenants they had made, superseded even their own lives. I believe that the Mothers of those Stripling Warriors, now widows, raised these young men and taught them these great lessons of faith and trust in the Lord until they took up arms under the leadership of Helaman. It's an absolutely beautiful and amazing story and I can't wait to see what you can do with it.

You’ll need to start out with the back story, but if done right, it could be amazing. A testimony builder for the new converts and members. The nonmembers it could be an introductory for a testimony. It could start out as a modern teen/young adult, telling someone why we believe what we believe. Voice fade into one of the 2000 telling their families story. Needs to be relatable enough for the modern day audience, but truth enough to feel the spirit of the 2000. No pressure. 😜

You should call it the stripling soldiers series then. Nowhere in the BOM are they called warriors. It’s an engrained cultural thing but look for yourself..words matter. Soldiers are team based and have more power, warriors are more individualistic, less power

Interesting. But as a creator you have to be selective with which hills to die on. This isn’t it, imo.
