Why would the government just mark gold to current spot price? They could make it $5K, $10K or even $20K an ounce and have all those extra reserves on the books to pay down debt. Marking it current spot price doesn't really do what needs to be done.

We don't really know what Bessent meant when he said they were going to "monetize the assets" on the balance sheet. This is but one possibility.

@BuyingMyFreedom Demand the excess gold be returned to the Treasury. No new fiat. Use the excess gold for debt free Constitutional money.
