Iran's demands for Israel to also end attacks on Lebanon and Gaza are not solely because of Tehran's desire to show solidarity with the peoples there, but also because it recognizes that if Israel continues to bombard Gaza and Lebanon, that conflict risks expanding to Iran again - as it already has twice since October 7. To ensure a durable end to Israel's war with Iran, Israel's war on Gaza and Lebanon must also end.

China has condemned the war in Iran, calling it a “violation of international law,” and urged military operations to cease immediately, but has not offered military support to Tehran. Chinese foreign Minister Wang Yi said the conflict “should not have happened” and encouraged diplomacy, as the country closely watches the war and the U.S.’s use of military power in the region. CBS News' Anna Coren reports on the latest from China's National People's Congress.

JUST IN For the first time in four decades, direct negotiations have begun in Washington between Arab Lebanon and Israel. The talks are taking place at the U.S. State Department while Israel continues its bombardment and occupation of southern Lebanon without interruption. Washington and Tel Aviv have succeeded in separating Lebanon from Iran on matters of war and peace. Iran has remained completely silent regarding the war against Lebanon, limiting itself to defending its own positions. Tehran says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until a final settlement is reached, while there is notable Arab frustration over the absence of decisive military intervention to force Israel into a ceasefire.

🇮🇱 Israel has been in a near-constant state of war or high alert since its founding. From the 1948 war and the displacement of ~750,000 Palestinians (the Nakba), through the 1956 Suez Crisis, the 1967 Six-Day War, multiple Lebanon wars, repeated Gaza conflicts, and now the direct war with Iran, conflict has shaped much of its history and identity. Whether you see it as necessary self-defense in a hostile region or the result of expansionist policies and over-reliance on military power, one thing is clear: Israel has rarely known long periods of genuine peace. The big question many are asking right now is whether this cycle can ever be broken, or if perpetual conflict has simply become the norm. Source: TRT World

We helped maintain stability and peace during the Cold War. Europe has benefited from the Americans’ willingness to spend on their defense. ⏪FLASHBACK: On November 1, 2023 I provided a warning about the use of Hamas and its Oct. 7 raids to create a permissive environment across the region for US-backed conflict ultimately aimed at Iran. Since then, the US has systematically undermined and overturned the peace and stability nations like Russia and China fought hard to achieve, bringing us to the precipice of total war today. This will only end when we stop falling for the lies and deceptions used to advance US foreign policy in the Middle East and around the globe.

Senator Tim Kaine has introduced a War Powers Resolution to block Trump from going to war in Iran. While Israel starves Gaza, its unprovoked attacks on Iran risk regional collapse and sabotage diplomatic efforts. The U.S. must not follow them into another endless war. Will your senator choose diplomacy or AIPAC’s war machine? Call them NOW. No more bombs. No more genocide. Yes to the Iran deal. Yes to peace.

As Hezbollah faces internal political pressure to remain relevant, the risk of a two-front civil war in both Iran and Lebanon is reaching a critical point.
