Iran's word for the tankers they shot last week was “non-compliant”. This morning CENTCOM's own headline used the same word for the tanker America shot. Two sovereign navies at war are now grading civilian ships / tankers with one shared adjective, and failing the grade means missiles from either side. The details are all CENTCOM's. The M/T Belma, Curaçao flagged and sailing empty, crossed international waters toward Kharg Island to load Iranian crude. It ignored multiple warnings. A US aircraft put Hellfire missiles into its smokestack. The ship is no longer transiting to Iran, the release said, in the tone of a parking notice. Count the scale. During the first blockade CENTCOM says it redirected 142 ships and disabled nine. The Belma makes ten. Set beside them the seven commercial ships CENTCOM says Iran deliberately attacked in the past week, one sailor dead. The most important waterway on earth now has two air forces firing on merchant shipping for opposite offenses. Iran shoots ships that sail without its permission. America shoots ships that sail toward Iran's ports which has Iran /IRGC permission. A captain in Hormuz can now be lawful and targeted at the same time, whichever law he picks. The Revolutionary Guard / IRGC answered within few hours. Energy exports from the region, it said, will be either for everyone or for no one. Brent touched $86, a one-month high. And the destination closes the loop. The Belma was sailing empty to load at Kharg, the island that handles roughly 90% of Iran's oil exports. Asked directly on Tuesday whether he plans to seize the island, President Trump said “I can't say that to you because if I did, it would be foolish”. He has spared its oil works so far because, in his words, they are a chunk of the world economy. Two enemies cannot agree on a ceasefire. They have agreed on a vocabulary. The first thing both sides standardized in this war was the word for a ship that disobeys. The second was the missile.

The Israel Hoax just dropped. Presidential candidate Donald Trump is being investigated for the alleged "massive crime" of making an unsanctioned phone call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. As reported by Axios, the former president spoke on the phone with Netanyahu to discuss the Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal, citing two U.S. sources who were briefed on the call. Donald Trump met with Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in July. Netanyahu also met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during his visit. According to Newsweek, if Trump did make the call, he would "potentially be breaking the law as the Logan Act, enacted in 1799," which "prohibits unauthorized private citizens from negotiating with foreign governments on behalf of the U.S." American Muckrakers filed a request with the Justice department and the State Department over Donald Trump's alleged call. Donald Trump's reported conversation with Netanyahu would be far from unusual, particularly for a former president or an ex-diplomat. In March 2024, former President Barack Obama paid a "surprise visit" to Downing Street in the United Kingdom to meet with then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. A British official told The Hill that Obama and Sunak discussed a variety of issues, including international affairs and artificial intelligence (AI). During the Trump administration, former Secretary of State John Kerry met with the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in meetings that critics say were intended to undermine sitting President Trump.
