Israeli forces struck a residential building in Bourj Hammoud – the heart of Lebanon's Armenian community. This comes just days after U.S.-Israeli forces hit a residential complex in Iran's Majidieh district – also home to a significant Armenian community. Bourj Hammoud was founded by survivors of the Armenian Genocide – and was a place where Armenian culture & identity were able to flourish in the wake of the attempted destruction of our nation. Over the course of the century, Beirut became a global center of Armenian culture, language, education, and diaspora life. During the Lebanese Civil War, Armenians organized self-defense units in Bourj Hammoud to preserve their neutrality, protect the community, and prevent any force from capturing the district. During the Syrian Civil War, Bourj Hammoud became a critical refuge for Armenians fleeing Aleppo. During the 2006 Israeli assault on Lebanon, Bourj Hammoud's Armenian schools, churches & community centers offered food and shelter for refugees from across the country. And following the 2020 Beirut Port Explosion – which hit Bourj Hammoud hard – the Armenian community rallied to provide humanitarian relief & shelter to those impacted. At its peak before the civil war, Armenians made up close to 10% of Lebanon's population. Today, less than half remain. As the illegal U.S.-Israeli war of aggression against Iran destabilizes the entire region – our communities across the Middle East face a threat to their very existence.

🇺🇸 U.S. Senators At #COP29 In Baku Call For Release Of Prisoners & Right Of Return Of Armenians To Artsakh 🇦🇲 ➖➖➖ U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Ed Markey expressed strong support for Armenia at the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. The senators emphasized their commitment to addressing the challenges facing Armenians, particularly concerning political prisoners and the right of return. Their remarks were in response to a question from a Baku TV reporter, who asked why the United States has not imposed sanctions on Armenia. Senator Whitehouse responded, “Senator Markey and I support Armenia, both of us. We are very regretful that the dislocation of so many Armenians has taken place. To put it mildly, I’m far from convinced that Armenians are to blame for that. And I don’t want to dwell in the home of my hosts on human rights issues. But if that were to be the topic, I would not be very complimentary.” Senator Markey continued, “We believe that the political prisoners should be released. We believe there should be a right of return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh. And we believe that there should be a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Our hope is that it’s negotiated soon so that these issues can be resolved, including the issue of a capacity to have a road that can be traversed through Armenia by Azerbaijan. But it all has to be part of a negotiated treaty. My hope is that that will be the case. But as Sheldon (Whitehouse) said, you know, we ultimately need to make sure that those prisoners are released and that there is a right to return peacefully by Armenian people to Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Pro-Armenian Congressman Frank Pallone Arrives In Baku For COP29, Faces Hostile Protests & Government-Backed Manipulation ➖➖➖ Pro-Armenian U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone has arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the UN COP29 climate summit, stepping into a tense and hostile environment, reports Zartonk Media. Upon Pallone’s arrival, he was surrounded and harassed by pro-government pseudo-journalists who hurled politically charged questions unrelated to the climate agenda. Outside, protesters demanded his deportation, holding signs and chanting slogans such as “Pallone apologize or get out!” Azerbaijani police allowed these demonstrations to proceed while ignoring escalating hostility—clear evidence that the protests were orchestrated and sanctioned by the regime. This coordinated campaign is part of a broader Azerbaijani government propaganda effort aimed at discrediting Pallone and other advocates for Armenian rights, raising serious concerns about the safety of U.S. officials and supporters of Armenian causes abroad. The situation further calls into question the credibility and impartiality of COP29, as Azerbaijan appears more focused on political posturing than genuine climate discussions. Pallone, a prominent advocate for Armenian issues and co-chair of the Armenian Congressional Caucus, is well-known for his strong stance against Azerbaijan’s aggression and human rights abuses. As the ranking member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee and a member of the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus, his presence at COP29 underscores the intersection of political tensions and environmental discussions. “It is outrageous for a foreign dictatorship to try to bully and intimidate an American legislator, simply standing up for human rights,” said Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) to Zartonk Media. ➖ Before his visit, Pallone reaffirmed his commitment to climate action, stating in a post on X: “The United States must remain a leader in the global fight to combat the worsening climate crisis. Now more than ever, I look forward to attending the COP29 climate conference to demonstrate that America is still in this fight.” His arrival underscored the political tensions undermining the climate conference’s integrity. Azerbaijan has used COP29 as a platform for political maneuvering instead of genuine climate dialogue. Government-sanctioned demonstrations against Pallone’s pro-Armenian stance exemplify Azerbaijan’s efforts to silence dissent and manipulate international platforms. Azerbaijani state media and pro-government NGOs further fueled tensions by making baseless accusations against Pallone’s guards, alleging violence and misconduct—tactics aimed at deflecting attention from Azerbaijan’s own human rights abuses. The regime’s claims of “inclusive dialogue” are clearly a facade, as dissent is met with repression and harassment. Pallone’s participation at COP29, combined with his advocacy for Artsakh Armenians, highlights Azerbaijan’s misuse of international forums and underscores the need for global accountability for its war crimes, hostilities, and oppression of Armenians in Artsakh. In a letter to the U.S. State Department, Pallone and 60 pro-Armenian lawmakers emphasized holding Azerbaijan accountable for its actions and illegal occupation of Armenian territories. The treatment of Congressman Pallone at COP29 demonstrates Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to weaponize international platforms and suppress legitimate discourse. Protests outside his hotel, the targeting of his security detail, and state-sanctioned harassment expose the true nature of this “climate summit”: a platform for propaganda and repression. The world must not remain silent.

Thirty-seven years have passed since the Kirovabad (Gandzak) pogroms. Beginning on November 21, 1988, Azerbaijani mobs armed with clubs, rebar, knives, and stones carried out a week of organized attacks against the Armenian population of Kirovabad, then the second-largest city of the Azerbaijan SSR, now called Ganja. Armenian homes were raided, residents were hunted through the streets, and entire neighborhoods were terrorized with the explicit objective of cleansing the city of its Armenian presence. In the aftermath, the remaining Armenians were forced to abandon Kirovabad completely. These events were not isolated. They followed the Sumgait pogroms earlier that same year and formed part of a broader pattern of targeted anti-Armenian violence throughout Soviet Azerbaijan. The intent was clear: erase Armenian communities through intimidation, murder, and forced displacement. The same logic continued long after 1988 and reached its most brutal expression in 2023 with the complete depopulation of Artsakh, where more than one hundred thousand Armenians were driven from their ancestral homeland in a matter of days. The world witnessed the culmination of a policy that had been set in motion decades earlier. Remembering Kirovabad is not only an act of historical truth. It is a reminder that the violence of the past is directly connected to the tragedy that unfolded in Artsakh in 2023. The victims were part of the same story of erasure, carried out by the same state and driven by the same ideology. 📷 National Television Archive Bakur Karapetyan, Walking in Torment Anatoly Talashkevich, From Sumgait to Ossetia Grigory Atayan, 1983: Kirovabad on Osipyan

Greta Thunberg To Boycott COP29 In Baku, Citing Azerbaijan’s Ethnic Cleansing Of Artsakh Armenians & Fossil Fuel Dependence ➖➖➖ Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced her decision to boycott the upcoming COP29 climate summit, set to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. Thunberg made her statement during a protest in Tbilisi, Georgia, denouncing the UNFCCC’s choice of Azerbaijan as the host for the summit. In her speech, Thunberg criticized the UN’s decision, describing it as “extreme hypocrisy.” She stated, “I am not going to Azerbaijan to COP. It is extreme hypocrisy of the UNFCCC to let yet another authoritarian, petrostate and regime to host the COP. Both for the people in Azerbaijan that the regime are repressing, and the Armenians who the Azerbaijani regime is guilty of ethnic cleansing, and also the climate itself that a country which is so reliant on fossil fuels and is planning to expand the production of fossil fuels gets to host the COP She continued by highlighting Azerbaijan’s reliance on fossil fuels and plans to expand its production, calling the decision “a slap in the face to all the people who are suffering from the climate emergency and from the repression and oppression of the Azerbaijani regime.” Thunberg also pointed out the restrictions on land borders, saying, “The land borders are closed, so I wouldn’t be able to go there, even if I wanted to. Which is insane; that’s something that I’ve heard many Azerbaijanis describe as being kept in a prison.” Her remarks have added to the global discourse surrounding COP29, raising questions about the summit’s choice of host country amid concerns over human rights and environmental policies.

BREAKING: George Deek, Israel's Special Envoy to the Christian World, says "We never got involved or took position in the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, per se", which led to the ethnic cleansing of Christian Armenians and their Churches from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). You have to admire that carefully placed "per se". The amount of heavy lifting it does for Israel's image in the Christian world would've been commendable had it not been a typical hasbara escape hatch, absolving Israel of any responsibility or accountability, and invariably collapsing under the weight of Israel's own record during that war. In no particular order: ⁃According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), between 2016 and 2020, leading up to the 44 Day War, roughly 69% of weapons exports to Azerbaijan came from Israel, in a war that butchered 5,000 Armenian soldiers, barely adults. So neutral. ⁃The highly advanced Israeli weapons systems included loitering munitions (suicide drones) such as the IAI Harop and Elbit SkyStriker, Hermes 900 reconnaissance drones, Spike anti-tank guided missiles, and LORA surface-to-surface ballistic missiles. ⁃Israeli weapons manufacturer Aeronautics Defense Systems used a suicide drone by attacking Armenian positions during a sale presentation at the behest of Azeri officials who requested a live demonstration. ⁃Israeli military personnel trained Azeri soldiers in piloting drones. ⁃Azerbaijan supplies 65% of Israel's crude oil imports, which are pumped via the BTC pipeline through Georgia and Turkey. A clear energy security and arms agreement: you send oil, we give you weapons. So neutral. ⁃In December 2023, Azerbaijan effectively blockaded the Lachin Corridor, the only route between Armenia and Artsakh. A starvation campaign ensued for 9 months, targeting hundreds of thousands of Armenian indigenous Christians: Food shortages, supermarket shelves emptied, families lining up for hours for a piece of bread. No fuel. No medicine. Cancer patients requiring urgent treatment were stranded. Malnutrition. Miscarriages. George Deek was Ambassador at that time. He was there in Baku. Did he voice concern for the besieged Christians in Artsakh? No. His country enabled it. Haaretz, an Israeli outlet, even published a bombshell report entitled "Israel's fingerprints all over the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh". To quote the Special Christian envoy himself: "When violence against a vulnerable minority is ignored because acknowledging it is politically inconvenient, there is a name for it: abandonment." For Israel, the defense of the Armenian Christian presence in Artsakh was politically inconvenient. That is why they were complicit in the ethnic cleansing of 150,000 indigenous Christian Armenians from their 2,000-year-old homeland.
