Rwandan President Paul Kagame accuses his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa of lying about the conflict in eastern DRC. #DRC #USA Ms. Sarah Troutman (Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs in DC) is answering questions from Congresswomen and -men at the hearing on the Peace Process in the DRC and the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the DRC and Rwanda. We are surprised to hear Ms. Troutman say that they have been working with civil society on the ground, while the Catholic Church (via CENCO-ECC) and other major civil society organizations have not been included in this process from the outset. Civil society organizations from conflict-affected areas are also not involved in this process. This is the major reason why the peace deal brokered by the USA has not brought peace to eastern DRC. For the DRC Peace Agreement and the Strategic Partnership Agreement with both the USA and Rwanda to be effective and meaningful, the Congolese population at the forefront of the conflicts must be involved in all stages of the process. The government of F. Tshisekedi must respect the Constitution of the DRC and not bypass parliament. We can start there ! Massad Boulos, the United States Senior Advisor for Africa, met with President Paul Kagame on Tuesday as part of his diplomatic tour across the Great Lakes region. During the talks at Urugwiro Village, Boulos said they discussed a shared vision for a stronger U.S.–Rwanda partnership focused on peace, stability, and economic growth. He affirmed that the United States is ready to work with Rwanda to find a lasting solution to the conflict in the eastern DRC that has persisted for three decades. “We are ready to work with Rwanda to achieve this goal, which is why finding a resolution to the conflict in eastern DRC is so essential, as it will unlock the region’s untapped potential,” he said. Tell Kagame those days of playing games with Congolese leaders are over.” Now, despite two more countries deploying soldiers to be part of SAMIDRC, Rwanda interprets this as South Africa fighting alongside the DRC which wants to overthrow Rwanda’s gov.

We understand better than the USA (United States of America) what the Rwanda Defence Force has done for us. To our armed forces all Rwandans🇷🇼 stand united with you.
