Used EVs will not attract GST when sold between two individuals, said FM Nirmala Sitharaman. Although the application of 18% GST on used EVs is not a blind decision, the centre had sought 5% GST but after a discussion, a decision on 18% GST was taken. #NirmalaSitharaman #EV

Did she just say “he bought the EV at 12 lakhs and sold at 9 lakhs- the GST will be charged at the marginal value between the two ?” So if I understood correctly - there will be an 18% GST on the 3 lakh loss for the second hand EV seller company ?? Or did I get that wrong ?? Genuine Question ? (See 2:22 to 2:36)

Here’s the pickle .: Most people don’t sell cars directly these days ..It’s unsafe.. also the used car vendor is going to recover the money from somebody .. The person who sells the car will sell it for lesser because if the company buys the car for more, it will be unaffordable to prospective buyers. The customer who buys the car will pay more as gst has increased . These businesses always cover for taxes when they price their cars and they can’t price themselves out of a sale . A car bought at 12lakh and sold at 9lakh will attract 18% on 3 lakh . That’s ₹54,000 . The GST council is speaking from an economists perspective and not from the customers perspective. The assumption that many people sell cars directly is not accurate . Ultimately this tax will affect the people,

Bs.. Brand new EV has 5% GST. Why would second hand have 18%? How does this incentivize adoption?

@PMOIndia @AmitShah Sirs, kindly see the video. Finance Minister knows BJP is in power in most states apart from centre. Centre’s decision can therefore be implemented. There is no way for a buyer to know the margin. The rates should be simple and same at 5% like for new vehicles. GST rates are far too complicated and is leading to corruption. Tax payers and business are harassed by the GST official. We need Modiji’s intervention in this matter. Kindly help. I am a big supporter of Modiji and am very confident that GST simplification will be done. Jai Hind 🙏🙏🙏
