Can a VLM see without a vision encoder? We trained one for $100, inspired by Gemma 4 12B. Latency on an M3 Pro MacBook: 112 ms -> 1.1 ms for the image path 30% lower end-to-end image+LLM The architecture is just: patchify the image -> linear projection with pos embeddings -> LLM Writeup:

1/3 A CPU inside an LLM is one thing, but running another LLM inside an LLM would be taking things a bit too far, wouldn't it? Anyways, here's an LLM running inside an LLM : QwenPU, an LLM (Andrej Karpathy's stories260k) running on an NPU compiled inside Qwen 3.5-4B's weights.

Still need to do some cable management, but this is a huge upgrade to my setup. I put my M3 MacBook Air on a SVALT dock (heatsink + fan) and thermal throttling is completely gone. Now when I’m home it basically performs like a MacBook Pro 🔥

Apple’s next MacBook Pro could be its biggest redesign in years. According to Bloomberg, Apple is preparing a significantly lighter MacBook Pro with: • OLED display • Touchscreen support • Redesigned, smaller internal components • Rearranged internals for lower weight • New macOS features built around touch • Possible Dynamic Island-style interface John Ternus is also taking a much more hands-on role in Apple’s design teams as CEO. Apple is finally bringing an OLED touchscreen to the MacBook Pro. 👀 This could be the start of a completely new era for MacBooks.
