I might be the only one who thinks this, but I think verbal communication skills are far more important than written ones Not everyone needs to be a writer, but we all need to be able to communicate Kind of how I feel about cursive as well, and maybe even handwriting as we have transitioned to keyboards, and maybe soon typing will feel the same as we all transition to using voice to type The main point is “can you communicate your idea?”

Totally but you always need to know how to write for most jobs. I started YouTubing just vlogging but now I have to be more exact with what I say. I have to write scripts. Wouldn’t be able to if it weren’t for that training in high school. It will always be needed

Sometimes I forget I dropped out of HS and have worked for myself entirely online for the last 22yrs Ive probably written 5 or less essays in my entire life and not one of them was at a level that required proper MLA citation or whatever its called Also I’m just a talker I could give a 2 hour speech with no prepared speech and 5 minute notice 😂😅

Brandon Sanderson has a great talk on this topic. One of my favorite lines from it: "The process of making art makes art of you."

You tell AI the strictness guidelines you want, feed it your essay and let it criticize and provide feedback. Personal tutor, no?

Hi! This is curiosity… You look different to me in this video. Is it because it’s flipped? Is it the glasses? Something about your face seems different. I don’t mean good or bad… Just different to what I’m accustomed to seeing, and I can’t figure it out. Help!?

If you're writing only to a word count (typically academia), then you write in passive voice. If you're writing to be understood, you use active voice. Heck, the US military teaches that, including using a sixth-grade reading level for better comprehension. It's not hard. It's English. You learned passive voice on your own to pad your writing.

This is exactly where I stand as well. Not only is writing thinking, and so outsourcing it will have huge implications particularly in the learning and reflection phases of thinking, but it also worries me from an authorship perspective: you didn’t bother writing, so why should I bother reading? And this pulls people further apart: AI writes, AI summarizes… We’d no longer be talking to each other. It’s like everyone is talking through an invisible translator, with biases and infused motivations…

Hey Sara! Love your videos. When I hear "you have to go through the struggle to improve", it feels a lot like "don’t use a calculator, learn to multiply by hand". And I sometimes wonder if it’s just nostalgia for how things, without AI, used to be.

I’m not saying never use a calculator I’m saying learn the foundation of math and then use a calculator
