Macca, the guys in the middle can jump and use their cover shadow to make the press even more aggressive. A high press by marking not the man, but the pass. I call it marking from the front (instead of marking from behind as we are taught since we were kids).

There were times this season where United pressed so well as a unit, but lately, it's been inconsistent and unorganized and we're almost back to playing a very deep line, it really is worrying, we often win the ball high up the pitch when we press well, we should restart!

If the red full back stays level with the blue player the red team will beat the press every time.

Every problem has a solution. This video is merely highlighting how the use of cover shadows can help in general pressing, not just this exact situation.
