How do you avoid burnout teaching the same lesson 15 times a day? When I do this, I have five classes with three groups each. After two periods, I am spent, I am bored, and I am not enjoying my job at that point.

I tell the teachers I train that if you are saying the same thing for each group, or approaching instruction & modeling the same way at your teacher-led station, thatโ€™s not a great use of your time. The goal is to differentiate that experience so it specifically meets the needs of the group youโ€™re working with. So, we choose different problems, prompts, texts and tasks for specific groups. Sometimes the instruction is totally different based on needs identified with diagnostic data.

Great idea- I think I can incorporate this model for nursing students learning dosage calculations. Curious how could do something like this for online dosage calculation and medication math class. #DistEd534

Love this, BUT how does it work in MS when you have 27+ students? 9 or more in a groups does not feel manageable for small group type work.

The # of total groups may vary depending on the amount of time you have or how many kids you want in the group. However, if you stick with the classic three station rotation, you can split the groups into pods. That way you might have pods of 3 or 4 at a station.

Thank you, Leslie! I was finding some folks were struggling with a verbal explanation, so Iโ€™ve been using my whiteboard more to create videos. Hope theyโ€™re helpful!
