UX has a FIGMA PROBLEM... And I can say it because I refuse to take "influencer/ambassador money" from them.

OMG, I’ve been agreeing with you in almost every tweet. It’s starting to feel a bit repetitive 🫣 I talk to many experienced designers, and most of them come to the same conclusions. 1/2

I haven’t heard the term “Figma operator” but I totally agree. You can learn Figma the tool, but it doesn’t mean you understand the fundamentals of design. I guess that means “Figma operators” are like the “script kiddies” of the design world. Certainly expendable.

Exactly but... now as a developer, how do I learn design? I can't come up with a good color palette and gosh I hate Typography 😂

@WelWelllWelll You need to start with the WHY of that design before you get to details like colors and fonts.

The same happened to car design some time ago. Every car looks the same. The undo button having no cost assigned to it means that a whole generation of designers never got to know how difficult it was to chance things on a clay model of a car. Figma is even worse because it's semi-automatic.

It goes like this: Figma is a pan 🍳 UX is the cooking 🧑‍🍳 If you learn to use other kitchen instruments your designs will taste better

Very true. founders really need to understand this. A founder employed me for the redesign of a digital tool, simply to make the MVP look beautiful meanwhile the tool is screening for a complete redesign from the revised user storyboard.

Completely agree with this! This is something I have also noticed recently. People are getting more into tools rather than spending time learning design. They just start executing based on what they hear/see happening around, without actually understanding the UX part.
