in a recent TMZ interview, Lil Durk took the time to talk about his journey in rehab for his drug problems, wanting to help the struggling youth in Chicago, and about being a better role model/leader for the people who look up to him. “I really knew what I wanted… I wanted better, I wanted to be a better man, a better father, a better leader.” “[Rehab] helped a lot. Thinking clear, my main goal is peace” He also talked about what lead him to seek help, and he said he was battling his addiction to hard drugs, which took over his life. “[the drugs] dont make me, you know what im sayin?” Durk also puts an emphasis on wanting to break stigmas around rehab and getting help for mental health issues, which I think is very much needed in this day and age. The interview wraps up with Durk talking about wanting to build a rehabilitation center in Chicago to help the inner city youth by working with the mayor and governor. The man who has openly admitted that mundane things like going to the movies are what he cherishes most. The one who cried when he realised how big bts was becoming and what it meant for them. The man who people went after because of his vulnerability. The man who has openly spoken about his mental health struggles. The man who had to compartmentalise his identities to make sense of his journey, his anger, his frustrations. The man who over the years has come to accept that this was what he chose. His normal.
