The suspects later abandoned the stolen Toyota Corolla Cross, which was promptly recovered by the teams. Failed Cellphone Snatching Leads To Arrest Of Robbery Suspects In Durban North: On 11 February at approximately 18h15, while conducting routine patrols along Mackeurtan Avenue, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) observed a white Toyota Etios parked near a well-known bar in Durban North, with its hazard lights activated. The vehicle immediately raised suspicion due to its unusual positioning, the behaviour of its occupants, and a modus operandi commonly associated with cellphone snatching incidents. SOT members discreetly positioned themselves to maintain observation without alerting the suspects. While under observation, the rear passenger exited the vehicle and approached nearby shops. Moments later, he attempted to snatch a cellphone from a member of the public. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspect immediately fled back toward the Etios, which had repositioned itself facing Adelaide Tambo Drive, seemingly preparing for a rapid escape. As soon as the suspect re-entered the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee the scene. SOT members, together with Durban North SAPS Crime Prevention, initiated a pursuit and successfully stopped the vehicle at the corner of Adelaide Tambo Drive and Mackeurtan Avenue. All three occupants were apprehended without further incident. Members returned to the area in an attempt to locate the victim of the attempted cellphone robbery; however, the victim had already left the scene and no contact details were available. All three suspects, together with the vehicle, were transported to Durban North SAPS for further processing. Further investigation, including the review of footage, confirmed that the same suspects were linked to a previous robbery in January on Millennium Boulevard in the Umhlanga Ridge area, with a case registered at Durban North SAPS.

BREAKING: Amotekun Arrests 97 Suspects, Intercepts Groups Moving into Ondo Forests with Household Items The Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, has arrested 97 suspects across the state in a major security operation targeting kidnapping, armed robbery, vehicle theft, and violations of the anti-open grazing law . Speaking during the parade of suspects at the agency’s headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, Amotekun Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye raised alarm over a fresh movement of people from northern parts of the country into forest communities in the state . Security operatives intercepted several groups of people, including women of different ages, travelling into forests with household items such as bedding, cooking utensils, mortars, and pestles . Among those paraded were individuals arrested in communities including Ikare, Kajola, Akure, Ilu-Abo, Akure North, Murewo, and Ojoma Camp for alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery activities . Adeleye also revealed that two suspects arrested in Akure allegedly posed as mentally ill persons to gather intelligence for criminal groups. The suspects reportedly confessed to receiving payments for supplying information to kidnappers and even obtained hospital cards to support their disguise . The commander disclosed that operatives dismantled a robbery syndicate known for disguising themselves as visitors before attacking residents, forcing victims to transfer money electronically and stealing their vehicles . He cited a case where a man who reportedly requested only two labourers later received 51 additional persons who moved into a forest area with their belongings . Another group of 16 persons was intercepted heading towards the Ose-Owo forest corridor, an area that has witnessed security concerns in recent years . Adeleye attributed the successes to collaboration between Amotekun, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Army . On the fate of the suspects, Adeleye said individuals found without criminal links would be returned to their states of origin in collaboration with community leaders, while those connected to criminal activities would be prosecuted .

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/HOMICIDE ARRESTS Nearly four months after a failed jewelry store robbery left a 72-year-old man dead, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives have made two arrests. On April 18, 2026, deputies responded to a jewelry store in the 7400 block of Stockton Blvd after multiple suspects attempted to rob the business. Investigators determined the group arrived in six recently stolen vehicles, including the one used to ram into the business. The suspects encountered an armed private security guard and fled. During the attempted robbery, the 72-year-old man was struck by the vehicle used to ram the business and suffered life-threatening injuries. He passed away 10 days later. Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) were instrumental in solving this murder. ALPR information provided detectives with critical investigative leads, allowing them to track vehicles associated with the suspects and connect evidence across jurisdictions. Without this technology, this murder would likely remain unsolved. Working with law enforcement partners throughout the Bay Area, detectives identified 24-year-old Alfredo Colmenero-Martinez of Oakland as the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim. Detectives also identified 35-year-old Jarren Frazier of Stockton as the individual responsible for planning and coordinating the attempted robbery. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued arrest warrants for Colmenero-Martinez for murder and Frazier for attempted robbery and conspiracy. On August 12, Major Crimes Bureau detectives arrested Colmenero-Martinez in Tracy and Frazier in Concord. Additionally, search warrants were served at four locations with assistance from the Oakland Police Department. Colmenero-Martinez and Frazier were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where both remain ineligible for bail.
