Conor Neill on the 3 best ways to start a speech (most people get this wrong): "I guarantee if you go to conferences, 19 out of 20 speakers will start in one of these ways: 'My name is Conor Neill. I'm from Tango, and this talk is about the latest trend in monitoring strategies.' But all of you are sitting with a piece of paper that already says who I am and what I'm going to talk about. By repeating what you already know, I'm giving a signal that it's time to get your BlackBerry out." Conor explains the three best ways to start instead: Third best: A question that matters to the audience. "How do you phrase a problem that the audience faces in a question?" Second best: A factoid that shocks. "There are more people alive today than have ever died. Every two minutes, the energy reaching the earth from the sun is equivalent to the whole annual energy usage of humanity. Does that change how you think about energy?" The best way: Start like you'd start a story to a child. "How do we start a story to a child? 'Once upon a time.' And what happens when you say once upon a time? My daughter leans forward, gets ready to hear, engages. We were all trained as kids to know when a story's coming. We also know when a teacher is about to deliver a 40-minute boring lecture." He explains the grown-up version: "In business, you don't hear Jack Welch saying 'once upon a time.' Steve Jobs doesn't start his speeches with 'once upon a time.' So there's a grown-up way of saying it: 'In October, the last time I was in this room, there were 120 people here. I was having a conversation with one of the world's experts on public speaking and he said something to me that changed what I think about what's important in speaking.' Now I can pause for 30 seconds, and you want to know what he said." Conor concludes: "Stories are about people. They're not about objects. They're not about things. If you want to tell a good story about your company, don't talk about the software talk about the people who built the software. What they do. How they are. What's important to them. What they sacrifice."

The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents LOST Lost Galaxy: Erin Simms as Maya Part 2! Shot on the same day as Maya’s recovered morphed scene onboard the Astro Megaship we debuted last year, this scene begins at the beginning of Episode 3 — as Maya navigates unseen corridors of Terra Venture to access the Astro Megaship after hearing the call of the Galactabeasts. Slightly extended from the final scene featuring Cerina Vincent, this version has a number of differences. Erin Simms once again appears as the originally cast Maya, this time revealing Maya’s original costume! Rather than modernizing her look from Mirinoi as we saw in the aired series, this version of Maya customized a beige Terra Venture jumpsuit instead — presumably in a bid to better fit in on her new-found home, tearing off her now-frayed sleeves to make it her own. She is also shown to have a more difficult time acclimating to technology than her final on-screen iteration. Also getting to flex a different take on his character is Reggie Rolle, who plays Damon a little more loosely and laid back than in the reshoot — spinning in sync to his comment about having him “around.” Damon’s jumpsuit has added the abstract Terra Venture badge to the left chest, consistent with the rest of his team in this scene — each with a solid bar matching their Ranger color [including Maya]. Don't hesitate and #enucleate HD video on my Youtube channel Dr. Sanchez Ali Again a #HoLEP without editions for urologists who want to start enucleating, in this case, I show how at some point it is very easy to go from a very anatomical plane to performing a subtrigonal drilling and how to avoid continuing there and correcting the plane . As usual, the prostate capsule is very thin, it is common to make small or large capsular perforations, which in enculelation are maximized and in the end we can see that they are magnified by the flow of our nucleation equipment. As you can see at the beginning of the video, it is something of no major importance at the end of the surgery. #UroSoMe #urology Amer. Urol. Dean Koontz has published more than 140 novels, 74 works of short fiction, and sold more than 500 million books. Simply put, he’s one of the most prolific writers alive today. Some highlights from our chat: 1. Dare to love the English language. 2. Characters come alive when they're given free will. Instead of constraining them in an outline, let them go where they want. You know they’re alive once they start surprising you. He says: “I give the characters free will like God gave it to us.” 3. Everything a writer believes about life and death, culture and society, relationships and the self, God and nature will wind up in their books. A writer’s body of work, therefore, reveals the intellectual and emotional progress of its creator, and over time, becomes a map of their soul. 4. To think you understand the world is to be foolish in the extreme. The world is too complex for us to understand it. To see reality clearly is to be utterly enchanted by its staggering complexity. 5. Where should you look? Well, the supernatural enters the world in mundane ways, and rarely the great and glorious flashes of drama. 6. Dean writes his novels page-by-page, and doesn’t move onto the next page until he nails the existing one. There’s no messy first draft. Because of that, he’s basically done with his novels once he finishes the final page. 7. Where does a unique writing voice come from? Three places: style, perspective, and a philosophy of life. 8. Be skeptical of conventional wisdom. There’s an encyclopedia of common wisdom in publishing. All of it is common and none of it is wise. You have to become aware of that, go your own way, and just stick with it because there are so many ways you can be sent wrong based on "that's the way we always do it." 9. The aesthetic plainness of contemporary writing (and culture at large) is crushing our souls. 10. Contemporary fiction is suffering from plainness in particular. It started when writers started imitating Hemingway (who stripped his prose down but kept the mystery and underlying strangeness of the world by implication). But the imitations that came later stripped the prose down while also removing the underlying depth that made Hemingway so great. 11. Koontz Law of Writing #1: Never go inside more than one character's mind in a scene. Each one should come from a singular viewpoint. 12. Koontz Law of Writing #2: Metaphors aren't meant to dazzle readers, but to seduce them into a more intimate relationship with the story. 13. Koontz Law of Writing #3: Metaphors and similes describe a scene more colorfully than a chain of adjectives — while reinforcing the mood. The point is that you can create depth by describing things metaphorically instead of using blunt adjectives. That’s what poetry does: it uses words to say more than the word itself says, which creates a mood. 14. Great prose doesn't come from piling on adjectives. It comes from finding the perfect metaphor that does triple duty: describes the scene, reinforces the mood, and reveals something about the character. 15. The goal is for metaphors not to pop out like showmanship, but to flow into the music of the language. 16. Develop an ear for the musicality of language. 17. A book can succeed with a mediocre plot if the characters are compelling. Character is the center of good fiction. If the characters work, the story works. 18. From the afterword of his book, Watchers: “We have within us the ability to change for the better and to find dignity as individuals rather than as drones in one mass movement or another. We have the ability to love, the need to be loved, and the willingness to put our own lives on the line to protect those we love, and it is in these aspects of ourselves that we can glimpse the face of God; and through the exercise of these qualities, we come closest to a Godlike state.” I've shared the full conversation with Dean Koontz below. The YouTube video link is in the replies, and so are the links to Apple and Spotify.

We feel more than excited to share this ! We feel blessed! Our little family of two is expanding to a family of 4! It’s been a long adventure with filled with love and physical challenges but with God’s blessing here we are !!! Thank you all, family, friends and community for your loving support ❤️ Before this ultrasound we did a blood test and it showed my hormone levels so high that the doctor said on a phone call that it was two. Lewis said so certain “that was the vision” So at that moment we exploded in a hug and joy! Together, last year we did a vision board with twin babies on it, so when we were walking into the clinic Lewis was certain we had two. I wasn’t sure. Cuz we had a scare. But he was so certain, cuz he has faith. In this process he has been so steady and calm in times I’ve been worried or anxious. This wasn’t the first time we heard the news, this was the ultrasound that confirmed it. He invited my mom cuz Lewis values the support mom gives us wives, during the process. “Our vision” turned into prayer saying may it be your will and not ours but if it pleases you, we’d like to have two at once, and God ever generous granted us our wish!

Inspired by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's towering vision of restoring 2.6 crore Hectares of country's degraded land by 2030, we took a baby step in Delhi on 28th May, 2022, right after I took over as Lt Governor. On a visit to a heavily degraded and polluted stretch along the Yamuna, opposite Sarai Kale Khan on the Ring Road, Baansera- abode of bamboos, was conceived. What followed was not only restoration, but reclamation & transformation, within a short span of 18 months, thanks to the painstaking efforts of Delhi Development Authority Delhi Development Authority , which is the custodian of the Yamuna floodplains in Delhi. Today, with about 30,000 bamboo trees that stand more than 30 feet tall, amidst other indigenous trees and rolling landscape of green grass, flowers & water bodies, Baansera has emerged as a unique new recreational destination & an ecological wonder in Delhi. This baby step was a leap of faith towards enriching Delhi's flora diversity. Baansera became fertile ground for the famed Lakadong Turmeric from Meghalaya, as also blooming Tulips. Once a stinking stretch of land buried under lakhs of tonnes of garbage, construction & demolition waste and heavy encroachment, Baansera today is an oasis that houses bamboo plants emitting 30% more Oxygen compared to other trees & restoring the degraded soil. Newly created water bodies, rolling grass lawns and recreational facilities like a restaurant, musical fountain, walking trails and children’s play area, today welcome visitors at Baansera. The park is now hosting social, cultural events like Kite Festival, Yoga events and even musical evenings. Baansera epitomizes the remarkable healing of Yamuna floodplain with improved soil health & a richer landscape, reaffirming our belief that ecosystems can be revived through gentle natural processes. I appeal to all fellow Delhi residents to visit the Baansera park. Watch this video to witness the transformation. 👇 PMO India Bhupender Yadav MoEF&CC UN Environment Programme UN Climate Change

251207 Hongjoong, TOKTOQ pop live, p.2-3: 🐿 I think this year went the way it did because the members and I felt that next year, we needed to return more to the core - to the true essence of ATEEZ. We needed time to think about what kinds of stages, content, and music could make ATINY’s hearts race the most, what could move you the most. We needed time to study that, and to figure out what suits us now. Since we’ve tried so many different styles over the years, we needed to reflect on what version of us fits best at this moment, and we needed time to explore that among ourselves. 🐿️ Some people are saying, ‘So is it finally a revolution?’ - but honestly, I don’t know if it’s that or not. It’s not like we’re preparing something with the mindset of, ‘We’re absolutely going to do a completely guerilla-style track,’ or ‘We’re definitely doing this kind of music.’ But within the direction we want to go, since not everyone always wants the same things, we tried to find one common point. And the common point we found was: ‘What makes our hearts race?’ And: ‘What hits the deepest?’ When ATEEZ performs and creates music, what has been the most effective, the most impactful for people? 🐿️ We needed time to think about that - musically, choreographically, content-wise - because we wanted to express it well. And because of that, we’ve been preparing for a long time. I think next year we’ll be able to show you a lot of things born from that process, and that makes me really excited right now. That’s why I talked about it in my acceptance speech. 🐿 My eyes are at the point where they’re starting to feel dry - I haven’t had my makeup on until 2 AM in a long time. Anyway, that’s how it is, and we’ll keep fighting next year too, and finish this year strong as well. I know I talked for a long time and a bit all over the place, but what I really want to say is just that I’m so happy and so grateful. 🐿 A bare-face livestream? (laughs) No, not today, not today - let me off this once. Today, thanks to ATINY, we received five awards together, five in one day, so just for today… please let me off the hook (laughs)
