Very astute observation by Jeremy Boreing today, that Tucker is using the Israel issue as a wedge to push Evangelicals out of the Republican coalition.

If you poll evangelicals, the Israel issue or any foreign policy issue wouldn’t exactly rank as top 5. I live among evangelicals, many of my wife’s family members are Southern Baptists and Pentecostals who subscribe to dispensationalism and premilenial views of eschatology. If you talk to an average Christian who is not eternally online and whose church subscribes to those ideas, they might generally supportive of Israel but 9 times out of 10 it’s not a make or break issue for them. Most are also not extremely dogmatic about this or any middle eastern foreign policy issues. This idea that every evangelical is Paula White is entirely contrived.

@JeremyDBoreing That is one of the effects Tucker is having, but not so sure Tucker is consistent on his policy prescriptions. He may have an antagonistic posture to the class his father belonged to which also drives him. He's been too unstable for me to categorize.

@JeremyDBoreing There's a play going on here by Boreing & Israel interests. It's not at all obvious that people who call themselves "Evangelical Christians" will stop voting Republican just because Israel's geopolitical interests are served less.

I think we go the other way around, Teddy Roosevelt-esq. Go left wing on social issues and mix of right wing and left wing on economic. Get universal healthcare but phase out social security. So I agree with Tucker that evangelicals need to be split from the GOP but for a different reason.
