[VFX Flame Arm BTS] Here is a quick breakdown of the VFX I made using After Effects! The main effects used are fractal noise, displacement map, vector blur, and my favorite DEEP GLOW!! I'll maybe write some (important?) notes below as well

Some of you have mentioned seeing an advance screener of the Stargate: Atlantis episode "Adrift" that included the Mckay-asteroid sequence with unfinished visual effects. Well here (again compliments of series VFX Supervisor Mark Savela) is that sequence - conceived, shot, and realized.

✦ A million stars - Weapon set VFX c/mm - For Nolina 🌌 This one is a few months old but (because my memory is terrible) I forgot to showcase it. Today, it is still one of my favorite sets with the amount of colors/effects used (... and of course, celestial/cosmic vibes!) 👀 💫

I just made a breakdown on how I created this map animation 🗺️ - the exact effects & plugins I used - my timeline setup & animation process - how I made it smooth + cinematic If you want the full guide, reply “map” and I’ll DM it to you (must be following)

Since a few people asked how this spot was made, here are some of the layers that I used to put it together in After Effects. The graphics are, for the most part, visualised tracking data (+normal/Depth/albedo) used as either gfx or masks that I then edited together in AE

Echoing the nostalgia from my last tweet, allow me to dust off some digital creation history. Behold... my VFX & 3D animation showreel from 2001-2002 🙈 A time when 3dsmax was goated, after effects was stable, and I was clearly obsessed with explosions and lightsabers, lol

A cat with a lantern 🩵 The lantern was originally a project done for/with a friend where I did the VFX part. It emits real light on nearby objects and characters, which is one of my favorite details 😊 Next step: aura VFX for the cat and possibly some design changes too!

Finished! Sound on, please! 🔊 Featuring RIOT ✨ OC and VOICE !!, I added some sound effects, including a few of my own VFX recordings, to complete the animation. Voice & OC 👉: Cycoriot Animation and backgrounds: me !! UwU >.> Also, this animation’s meant to be simple and efficient! Nothing crazy! Behind the scenes, next upload! With one of the songs I had on loop while animating XD

So many people asked me for a breakdown of my trees, so i'll do my best to explain the process - Thank you all so much for the love and attention on these! They are extremely WIP, and i will do a new breakdown once they are finished, but here is a preliminary one! 🍃

This Notion-inspired navigation bar ultimately made it into Sol While we wait for the App Store review, I wanted to share one of the reasons I love using Sol so much: I often need to capture quick notes, but just as often I need structured notes that are easy to find later. That’s why every note in Sol is made up of entries. Each entry can have an unlimited number of subentries, which can be nested as deeply as you need I’m already working on a way to link entries together using deep links, so you’ll be able to create interconnected notes too

And here is Paimon's Ace up his Sleeve, Phenex! Not only a lil look at his Arena, but a lil showcase of his Explosive Abilities too! I am very happy with the unique explosive effect I made for Phenex. It was inspired by a few effects used in a lot of 90's Japanese made toons!

While learning Unreal Engine 5, I decided to port over most of Hyperion to it to see if I could potentially move my workflows over to UE5. Although it worked decently well, it didn't work well enough to allow me to change over entirely. Hyperion is simply too complex of an asset for real-time workflows (or at least is limited due to my knowledge of said workflows). 131 4K-8K UDIMs at over 8 channels and a solid amount of shaders with layering being the biggest bottleneck. I couldn't even match the shading setup to what I have in RenderMan, UE gave me a warning that the material was too complex. I was using the new Substrate materials, which mimic RenderMan LAMA shaders. The render below is using the pathtracer. As you can see there are some random flickering parts which I couldn't fix during my tests. This render of course doesn't have any displacement either (which Hyperion heavily relies on). I think Unreal Engine has a very bright future, but it is still limited by todays hardware technology for high end VFX work. Maybe in a few years I will give it another try when hardware improves and the engine becomes a bit more versatile in feature-set.
