VFX using iPhone LiDAR. The great thing about DoF particles is that they easily add a sense of depth to the effects.

A great way to cheaply fake lighting on particles is using a sphere mask in world space. If you add a Vector3 to the Object Position node, it can be offset to any desired position #gamedev #VFX #realtimeVFX #UnrealEngine5 #UnrealEngine

Distorting UVs can be a great way to add variation and achieve certain effects. For example, this shader pushes and pulls the UVs for a bulging or pinching effect. A quick way to add depth to panning textures #gamedev #realtimeVFX #UnrealEngine #indiegames #VFX

This is how a river depth is measured using an aircraft and a laser beam. The bathymetric LiDAR can measure depths upto 40m with a accuracy of about 15 cm

A great way to cheaply fake lighting on particles is with a sphere mask in world space. Using a Vector3 instead of an Actor Position node lets you offset the lighting to any desired position in the world #gamedev #VFX #realtimeVFX #UnrealEngine5 #UnrealEngine

Mobile LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) system in China. On its roof, the LiDAR emits 532nm green laser light, using backscattering from airborne particles to monitor air pollution distribution.

A HIDDEN thing I just realized in the iPhone DUO They CAN hide the camera under the screen without the need of the DYNAMIC ISLAND on an iPhone. Why don't they do this and HIDE that thing?

Working on the second layer. Using a glaze technique (thin layers of paint) to blend the shadows. You can achieve a great sense of depth by working this way, slowly building up the layers, gradually refining the details. Defend the Realm 2 coming soon.

🔥Burning Shell🔥 Enhance effects with depth and complexity! By using Pre-skinned local pos instead of LocalPosition, you can attach to your mesh before any animation is applied. Full breakdown: #GameDev #VFX #RealTimeVFX #UnrealEngine

I’ve always wanted a way to record the iPhone gyroscope/accelerometer data so it could be imported into After Effects and Blender and the other day I found an iPhone app that does that exact thing!!

To me, the one clear thing about 73 Yards is that it's *meant* to not fully make sense; the whole thing is a metatextual exercise in how we interpret the unexplained, as is explicitly discussed in the dialogue. Anyone telling you they know the 'right' answer is missing the point!

Is there an existing iPhone Pro app that simultaneously records the LiDAR stream and a standard RGB video? Apps like Record3D App seem to only store RGB for the points in the LiDAR point cloud but without recording a standard RGB video.

More games need to take inspiration from Quake's impact effects. It's so simple, a mesh rotated to face the normal of the impacted surface. Can always add particles and all afterwards on top of it, but this way you get a sharp visual.

Vance: Democrats, the one thing they should learn from President Trump is to laugh at themselves a little bit. They don't have to be so serious. They don't have to get offended at everything. Sometimes it's actually a good thing to have a sense of humor about our political process.
