I understand your concern but none of this matters unless there's personal information involved. 99% of these apps don't require you to input like your social security number or any other "hack worthy" sensitive info Even if you're worried about security when it comes to money, the majority of these vibe coding apps have Stripe and other payment processing software directly in there. You can already delete the "money getting hacked" part if you just use one of those APIs If you're building some cute little fitness tracker app or an advanced AI therapist app, there's nothing to get hacked. The security doesn't matter (mostly) Even if you are knowledgeable and you're a great engineer and you have $500,000 worth of audits, those same apps still end up getting hacked whether vibe coded or not

Agreed, but this doesn’t account for 99% of products Majority of vibecoded apps use APIs, so stripe handles payments, Google handles logins, and they’re the one storing consumer data safely. You aren’t relying on AI to keep your credit card safe. This only crosses into dangerous territory if you’re building crypto or financial products, like dapps, escrows, anything moving money that doesn’t use existing APIs from bulletproof providers So I think vibecoding majority of the time is completely harmless and only gets dangerous when people are building financial products with it.

So who is using vibe coding to build anything other than something for a meme code or a home page? Maybe a cute game or a primitive betting market to mock your friends?

I agree, tho i would encourage founders with ideas to build mvps and prototypes using AI. Some of our recent clients have done it, and it's really helpful for us, so we can know what would be the best UI/UX direction and it's easier for the devs to visualize

agreed, you shouldn't be downloading anyone's public repo to "try" their vibe app, let alone use one, unless you understand the implication and liability that running applications or code that is not your can open a massive data concern.

yea but you still should be auditing your code regardless of whether you vibe code or you use a seasoned developer. either way you’re putting trust in another entity and in this space that can be dangerous and you should audit the work. people will be sloppy and not do this, but developers have also been cocky and not done it and it’s resulted in many huge vulnerabilities will it be used to scam? it sure will. will naive people over trust and screw up? 100%. does that make it a scam? i don’t think so

I think AI vibe coding is a necessity these days as new LLM code is produced at a higher quality than a lot of junior engineers. That said auditing firms exist for a reason, and I think more startups should use them outside of just smart contract auditing.

scammers are vibe coding scams. same shit different pile. but i’ve been able to make very useful tools that are uber specific to me and no one will ever seen them. the tek is gud.
