LET ME TELL YOU A STORY!!! 🌳🤗🌳❤️🌳 In the 1970s, women of Reni village, Uttarakhand, hugged trees to save them from being chopped It came to be known as the Chipko Movement The women were protesting against the government's allocation of forest land to contractors for logging and commercial purposes because it led to environmental degradation The movement was so powerful that the then prime minister Indira Gandhi was forced to make changes to the existing law The Forest conservation act of 1980 was born! Did the forest belong to the people? Did the trees belong to those villagers? But why did the women fight? Governments as such don’t OWN the land, the air, the water or you or me! Governments are ONLY custodians of the resources. They aren’t super powers. They cannot and should not make unilateral decisions. People are allowed to and should protest when the environment is in danger. Since this is still a democracy! Be it Aarey, Hasedo, Aravalli, Narmada Bachao, Save Lakshadweep or even Save HCU people are protesting against government NOT because it is their land or their trees or their water. But because it is their right to protect the environment. Moral of the story: GOVERNMENTS DON’T OWN US! In Maharashtra, the Kumbh Mela will take place in Nashik. To provide accommodation for the sadhus and mahants coming for the event, a “Sadhugram” is planned. But for this, nearly 1,700 trees will be cut, many of them 40 to 50 years old. The Kumbh Mela will last only for a month. Is it really necessary to cut such old and valuable trees for something so temporary? Today, very few people plant trees and take care of them, so why remove the ones we already have? This is for all the people in the arena ( your life, your career, your family ) who are doing it for them .. not for the validation of the crowd One of the great issues in our society right now is that people live their lives for outside validation, for the clicks, for the likes, for the followers, for the comments. This isn't just in social media. This is happening in the analog and real world too. Too many people are keeping up with the Joneses and worried about what people think about them. They worry about what people think about how much money they have, what school they go to, or even worse, what school their kids go to, and on and on and on … I will continue to make content with the hope it breaks someone out of the hamster wheel and that’s that ❤️❤️❤️❤️

That town has about 12,000 population and were presented with an 'issue' if you will from a big company. They want to build a data center for AI. The people OBJECTED to it for many reasons. The local government there gave the people a big middle finger and decided to proceed anyway. This situation is yet another example of either big or small, the people are sick of the government not working for them and being told to shut up and deal with things.

It is their inheritance, whether they like it or not. If the people disappear, so does the culture. You cannot swap those people out for others and keep their culture, just as you cannot replace the photographs of children on their mother's mantelpiece and claim that the family remains the same.
