I beat this game but I don’t remember a single thing about it.

FFXV still holds up insanely well in 2026 😭 That Luminous Engine lighting + those beach/roadtrip vibes were next-level for 2016. Art direction and atmosphere carried it hard—modern games could learn a thing or two about making open worlds actually feel alive instead of just bigger and blurrier. Who's replaying it this year? 👀

A reminder that this took years of the project stuck in development hell, costed SE countless of dollars and ended up filled with unfinished parts because of how difficult the engine was.

Pretty crazy how much we have hit diminishing returns. Comparing a game from 1996 like Mario 64 to a game released in 2006 Gears of War, the difference is insane.

Yet I thought nothing could beat this realism back in the day.

Just really take a look at Notre Dame in AC: Unity sometime, or Big Ben in AC: Syndicate. Or Batman's Batman Inc. suit in Arkham Knight. I don't need "better" than that; I just need devs to care that much.

I think it’s totally unfair to compare Final Fantasy graphics with all the rest of games. FF was always knew for their amazing graphics for their time. Just see FF XIII on PS3, I doubt you’ll find 5 games with that beauty. That said, companies should use FF as a baseline

Replaying FF13 on a handheld and it still looks like a modern day brand new game.
