Looks to me like Elon rushed the launch so it would be on 4/20, a joke in his usual juvenile style, and cheaped out on a suitable lauch pad, which caused it to disintegrate, sending concrete and steel debris crashing into his Raptor engines and steering rockets.

That's more than several hundred feet. From the launch pad if that is what you want to call it to the shoreline is a quarter mile. Equal to 1,320 ft. You can see some splashes beyond the breakers.
