We are very clear as Africans about our land, it is only European colonial settlers who have got questions about us owning our land because white supremacy cannot reconcile itself with the reality of Africans being human and owners of African land. Using the negotiated settlements, European colonial settlers categorized land as a property under Bill of Rights to protect white privilege and land theft. Also, the European settlers have mastered the art of hiding their ills behind black bishops, which bring about the theme of the church being a colonial tool meant to hoodwink Africans into jamming to the colonial hyms and whims on things at the heart of our existence, on land. Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church, and Methodist Chruch have been central to the protection of colonial privileges in Africa.

The stories of loss، struggle, and resilience is still being written ever since.. “A land without people” was and still is one of the narratives which the oppressor used to justify the displacement of millions of its people. When in reality, Palestine, was a land filled with dreams, hopes, and sacrifice. The Palestinians until this day are fighting for their right to live a normal life on their homeland.

Charlie Kirk never got to see America’s 250th birthday. So, in his honor, watch him shut down the typical liberal “stolen land” argument. A college student confronts Kirk and says Americans are living on “stolen land” taken from the Mexicans. Kirk asks who the Mexicans stole it from, then expertly turns his own words against him. Yet, Somalis everywhere, including those who lived and still live under leaders like Abiy and other colonial figures, have never forgotten how their land was taken through treachery, and how, in reality, they remain colonized. Today, when Somalis hear external powers pushing Ethiopia’s agendas or offering “whataboutism” in response to Ethiopia’s annexation and dismemberment schemes, they are reminded of past treachery and injustices. And when Abiy now speaks of seizing Somalia’s sea, Somalis conclude that conceding Western Somalia only whetted the colonial appetite. Tu B’Shvat is a holiday which is deeply tied to the land of Israel. It’s a reminder that Judaism is an indigenous faith rooted in the seasons and the fruits of this land. The seven species mentioned in the Bible, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates, aren’t just symbolic. They represent a tangible connection to an ancient agricultural heritage and the physical land that shaped Jewish identity. In the Middle Ages, the custom developed to celebrate Tu B’Shvat with a feast of fruits. And in the 16th century, the Kabbalist rabbi, Yitzchak Luria, instituted a Tu B’Shvat seder, which is similar to the Passover seder, in which Jews all over the diaspora were able to reconnect to the land of Israel through eating her indigenous fruits. According to Kabbalah, when you eat fruits from the trees, it helps a human soul evolve. And Judaism is about being present to every single thing that you do and everything that you eat as well. Tu B’Shvat reminds us that Judaism and the land of Israel are inseparable. The roots of the Jewish people are right here. And to celebrate Tu B’Shvat is to celebrate Zionism, not as a modern political movement, but as a profound acknowledgement of a people’s enduring bond with the land of their ancestors. The land of Israel isn’t just a backdrop to Jewish history. It’s part of the story itself. Petaluma High School in California is making their students do “land acknowledgements” that they understand they are “living on stolen land” Parent confronts the school board and also shows her child’s English class is teaching them to “hide underage sex from their parents” and “gender confusion” “This teacher has also implemented other of her politicized ideology, which I just think does not belong in school at all, let alone in English class, having our children do land acknowledgments and letting them know that they're on stolen land. I think we need to understand how land ownership was recognized in the olden days. Claiming ownership of land was not simply about saying, "I am the owner", In those days, ownership was generally established either by conquering the land through war or by inheriting it from one's ancestors.
