Yup! Par threes should be designed so the green complex is the obstacle, not the length.

Brooks has talked about this for years. How the longer par 3s are worse holes because they take strategy out of play

Viktor is right. Maybe 210, that’s about it. The players don’t enjoy it, neither do mos of the fans on a 240 plus par 3. Players just want 3 and to get out. Anything near the flag is an accident. Not great for the viewer of that hole

I don’t understand why so many love short par 4s yet dislike long par 3s. The hole is the hole. Who cares what par they call it?

Using long 3s to protect par is why they exist.

Um Viktor, #4 at Riviera CC... I never heard Nicklaus or Woods complain about that hole, pros should be challenged by long par 3's...
