Viktor's body didn't reject Mel's magic Both Viktor & LeBlanc talk about being touched by the Arcane, so even though their powers look different, they come from the same source. Since Mel is an empath mage, she instinctively protected just Jayce, whom she loved, with her magic.

The reason why the hexcore reacted to Mel's touch is because it had already accepted Viktor's body as its recipient. That's also why Sky was pulverized but Viktor wasn't.

I like the theory but Viktor was still really close to Jayce. Mel probably ran towards Jayce to hug him and safe since he is in the center of the barrier and the table in that area is undamaged so it saved not only people inside but objects too and Viktor was definitely rejected

It wasn't rejected. The hexcore & every kind of magic come from the arcane. It's the same source. So it doesn't make sense for it to reject Mel's shield. Also in the beginning of s2 we can see that the table was fully destroyed so the shield wasn't big enough.

The whole "Mel tried to protect Viktor but the hexcore made it not work" is such a weird take to have to absolve Mel of a nonexistent, outside the narrative, blame. She didn't know she had those powers, acted instinctively and shielded the person she's emotionally invested in

The thing is though, if we look at the Councilor room from the top after the attack, her shield included Jayce, Shoola and Salo along with Victo's seat as well. Even though she may have wanted to protect Jayce, the shield was bigger than that and Victor was in it, so why?

@CupcakeViolyn The missile went right towards Mel's back, which means the shield blocked it or diverted it, but the explosion made part of the building collapse thus killing some Councilors. I don't think the shield was bigger than that because they still suffered major injuries

maybe viktor was protected from the initial blast but the building collapsed on him?? mel's shield coul've been bigger at first but then it shrunk to just protect her and jayce bc she can't control it

i feel like its really difficult to agree with this take when we can CLEARLY see the shape and size of her shield SHOULD have been more than big enough to cover viktor AND still also go as far as to reach the seat at the head of the table too. its really hard to deny how - 1/

But Viktor was in the protected area as seen by checking what part of the table was intact. So how did he end somewhere else

I see what you’re saying, but as seen through the tree, Viktor and the hexcore are not normal arcane magic, and the arcane/nature reject them.
