A neighbourhood dispute turned dangerous in Forney, Texas. It began after school when a 9-year-old boy hit a group of kids — including the Nash family's daughter — with his skateboard. The kids pushed back, and he blamed the Nash girl. Later, the boy went to the Nash home armed with a whip. He repeatedly lashed and beat their front door while their young daughter was inside. His mother told him to leave after seeing it on the doorbell camera. The Nash family confronted the boy's father, Bryan Brunson. During the heated talk, Brunson answered the door with a gun, and it discharged. No one was hit, though his own daughter stood behind him, and the Nash family was in the line of fire. Brunson was arrested and charged with deadly conduct for reckless discharge of a firearm. He bonded out of jail. The boy was too young to face charges. The Nash family sought accountability from their neighbors to feel safe again.
