Last night (Tuesday), 24 February, at around 8:00 P.M about 20 Israeli settlers raided the village of Khirbet Susiya, in the South Hebron Hills. They attacked homes and cars with stones, and set fire to three tents, a pre-fab, chicken coops and cars at several spots throughout the village. About 300 people live in the village, half of them minors. They are subjected to daily violence by settlers and the military, with the backing of all Israeli state authorities. Footage also shows a group of settlers trying to damage cameras to prevent documentation of the attack. None of the assailants were detained. Yesterday’s attack on Khirbet Susiya is part of Israel’s broader onslaught against Palestinians, who remain defenseless in the face of unchecked violence by militias and the Israeli military. Israel’s ethnic cleansing in the West Bank has so far displaced more than 4,000 Palestinians from their homes, with 51 communities expelled in their entirety and 14 communities in part. The daily violence towards Palestinians in the West Bank continues as Israel maintains a system of military occupation and systemic impunity for settler violence, while the international community stands by.

Arson has become one of the most common tactics, with mosques, homes, and cars set on fire nearly daily. Drop Site's Maysa Mustafa spoke with Maisoon Ali in the village of Deir Dibwan, who has survived repeated settler attacks, including one where settlers tried to burn her home down while she and her husband were inside. Ali says she has no one to turn to. Not the Palestinian Authority, which has no jurisdiction in Area C, and not the Israeli military, which she says protects the settlers instead. Her only recourse is the country on her second passport, the U.S. — the same one whose weapons are being used against her. This week alone, at least 6 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank amid settler violence, 4 of them on Friday in a settler raid on the town of Tell near Nablus. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, that brings the toll since the start of the year to 86 Palestinians killed by Israelis across the West Bank, more than 20 of whom were shot by settlers.

🚨POGROMS IN THE WESTBANK: Armed settler attacks ignite West Bank villages as Palestinians fight back and Israel orders collective punishment. Israeli settlers launched coordinated attacks across several Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank, setting homes and farmland ON FIRE and opening fire on residents. In Tell, west of Nablus, Farouk Ramadan seized a loaded weapon from a settler during a confrontation and OPENED FIRE in self-defense before he was KILLED alongside 3 members of his family. Villagers had tried to defend their community with little more than stones as armed settlers stormed the village. 🇮🇱 Following the incident, Netanyahu announced the DEMOLITION of the family’s homes, declared the village a “terrorist stronghold,” ordered new military deployments across the West Bank, more checkpoints and road closures, and accelerated the legalization and expansion of Israeli settlement outposts. Settlers also attacked Awarta, setting homes ON FIRE while families were still inside and opening heavy fire at Palestinians trying to stop them. In Far’ata, settlers advanced after being repelled from the nearby village of Jit. At least 7 Palestinians were WOUNDED, including 4 by live fire and 1 critically, while homes and agricultural land were burned. Settlers also attacked the nearby village of Imatin. Despite the deaths, injuries and the new Israeli measures, Palestinians later REPELLED another large settler attack on the village of Surra, south of Nablus. The 2 men KILLED during the confrontation were later identified by the Israeli military as serving soldiers. Palestinians say they had been leading settler attacks while wearing civilian clothing and carrying Israeli military weapons. They were killed after their own weapons were seized during the confrontation.

Israeli settlers launched coordinated attacks across several Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank, setting homes and farmland ON FIRE and opening fire on residents. In Tell, west of Nablus, Farouk Ramadan seized a loaded weapon from a settler during a confrontation and OPENED FIRE in self-defense before he was KILLED alongside 3 members of his family. Villagers had tried to defend their community with little more than stones as armed settlers stormed the village. 🇮🇱 Following the incident, Netanyahu announced the DEMOLITION of the family’s homes, declared the village a “terrorist stronghold,” ordered new military deployments across the West Bank, more checkpoints and road closures, and accelerated the legalization and expansion of Israeli settlement outposts. Settlers also attacked Awarta, setting homes ON FIRE while families were still inside and opening heavy fire at Palestinians trying to stop them. In Far’ata, settlers advanced after being repelled from the nearby village of Jit. At least 7 Palestinians were WOUNDED, including 4 by live fire and 1 critically, while homes and agricultural land were burned. Settlers also attacked the nearby village of Imatin. Despite the deaths, injuries and the new Israeli measures, Palestinians later REPELLED another large settler attack on the village of Surra, south of Nablus. The 2 men KILLED during the confrontation were later identified by the Israeli military as serving soldiers. Palestinians say they had been leading settler attacks while wearing civilian clothing and carrying Israeli military weapons. They were killed after their own weapons were seized during the confrontation.
