Even more impressive when you realize it was almost exclusively played with the index finger of his right hand - earning him the nickname 'The Hook.' That's some Django Reinhardt virtuosity right there (considering Django's own two-finger technique due to scarring from a burn).

Really don’t like this method of visualization… the long notes immediately slanting into the next note is pretty misrepresentative of the intended feel

This just shows that the bass can pretty much do their thing. As long as they keep up with the tempo who cares what notes they play 🙄

I heard a version of this song where every instrument was aligned perfectly to the grid (in a DAW) and it absolutely killed the groove and vibe. This gives a nice visualization to the feel that Jamerson brought to everything he laid bass down on.

This doesn’t do it justice. You should try a musical scale or bass fret board. This ain’t it.
