My elder daughter was pregnant, and we took her to a hospital after sonography and all other checkups. We told them it was an emergency case, but they said they could not treat her and asked us to take her to Sion Hospital. We requested the doctors, explaining that the roads were flooded and it would take hours to reach another hospital. We told them my daughter's life was at risk and requested that her delivery be carried out there. We appealed repeatedly to the doctors and staff, but they refused and insisted that we take her to another hospital. My daughter was in a critical condition. We didn't know what to do, so we called Dada. We asked him how we could move her in such circumstances. He questioned why the hospital was refusing treatment despite her condition... The doctors were not even taking our calls, so Dada came to the hospital to help... The case filed against Dada is completely false. He has always stood by us. That is why I reached out to him."

None of the on-duty doctors or staff knew who this 'Dada' was. The patient's relatives then called someone in. Ramesh Mhatre and his associates arrived with a large mob. They barged in, immediately started hurling abuse, and began assaulting the doctors... Who would want to work in such an environment? My daughter handled the situation very bravely, but she is reluctant to return here now. She would prefer to stay away from this kind of atmosphere; she hasn't slept for two or three nights. These people work 48-hour shifts—she was on duty from Sunday morning at 8:00 AM (when the incident occurred) right through to Wednesday morning. It is frightening for doctors; no one would appreciate such a situation. We are currently living in an atmosphere of fear."

He was experiencing breathing difficulties. He has only one kidney. Furthermore, the high blood pressure puts him at risk of complications like a stroke. Our doctors are taking all necessary precautions regarding this. We will discharge him immediately once his vital signs stabilise. Once he recovers, he must face punishment in accordance with the law. The doctors and nursing staff were frightened; we want to ensure such incidents do not happen again. We are in talks with the Indian Medical Association (IMA)… Yesterday, we also submitted a formal request to the Mumbai Commissioner of Police. We have received an assurance from them that appropriate action will be taken at the right time.”

She was informed that the baby would need NICU care. When we checked our NICU, there was one bed available, but another delivery had just taken place, and that baby also needed the NICU, so no bed was left. We advised the family that it would be better to go to our referral center, Sion Hospital. They asked for some time to discuss it among themselves and get back to us.
